Review summary

This is our first MSC cruise. It was a beautiful ship. Crew was great. The food in the main dining room was not good. Buffet was a better option. We ended up paying for some of the upgraded restaurants. They were delicious!! Having to wear a mask in the casino and some areas was hard. The private island is one of the best! In the future, if we choose MSC to cruise, we will upgrade to the yacht club which has some of the perks we ended up paying for on the cruise.

The ships main dining rooms were a big disappointment. We ended up eating at the buffet which was good and paying for the upgraded dining. The two restaurants we upgraded were amazing!! But I feel like on other cruise lines the main dining room is always good. Not the case on this cruise, which was our first MSC cruise.

Great size and balcony. We had a chance to bid on upgrade to the yacht club but we hesitated as we had a balcony room .

Ship tip

Know the cost of the basic cruise is good. Their private island the best we have seen. But know going into you will need to upgrade the dining package if you don’t want to eat the buffet. The room service breakfast and coffee weren’t good either! But the ship is beautiful!!

YC may sound expensive but very much worth it. We are 40+ past cruises and MSC YC is our very favorite! It is like an exclusive $$$$ship (think Oceana, Regent etc ) and so much less expensive when you think that way. Yes, it’s pricy compared to Carnaval, RC, Princess or even MSC regular rooms, but it is an experience all in it’s own. You cannot compare them. It is like an all inclusive resort being compared to a Days Inn. You get what you pay for and then more! YC all the way for me!

The Yacht club sounds great but when I looked at it, the cost was literally 6 times higher than my balcony. I don't care how nice it is, it is not worth it.

Meraviglia was our choice for first MSC cruise. I can totally agree with your comments concerning the main dining room food! We did enjoy breakfast in the MDR as we really like to be served breakfast. 😁
