Review summary

We didn't pay very much for this cruise, so we probably got what we paid for, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But I'd worry for those who pay lots of money for bigger cabins, especially in peak season, if they could possibly get their money's worth? Especially with so many extra charge venues & activities onboard.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was our first time using Horizon Terminal and it couldn't have been quicker to board the ship, very smooth experience!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was ok, I never had a bad dish, but it was always luke warm at best. The waiters however, worked really hard to make our experience very enjoyable overall.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
The weather was too poor for most outdoor activities, and even when I tried to use the water slides, they don't have any towels provided so you'd end up freezing to death as soon as you got off. Also, everything else worth trying had an upcharge fee of around €20, so I didn't even try the simulators or bowling alley etc.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Lack of live music around the ship, and the main theatre shows were hit and miss.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward and waiters were all fantastic, as were the general staff across the ship. However avoid the Horizon Bar if you want quick drinks service !

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very nice ship overall and obviously spotless given its maiden season.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice spacious design for an inside, and the noise/vibrations weren't too bad either, especially considering it's at the aft of the ship.

Ship tip

Use the panoramic lifts if you're located in the middle of the ship, they're much quieter than the main lifts.

Ports of call

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

Rotterdam, Netherlands

5 out of 5
The ship docks right in the heart of the city, well within walking distance.
