Horrible Customer Service by Cruiser22126342

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The positives about the ship include the fact that the ship is very beautiful, large and the entertaining  is absolutely amazing!  Thumbs up to the entertainment team!

Another positive is the room service. Our room steward was extremely polite, prompt and went above and beyond for us the entire trip - thank you very much!

Now for the issues we encountered.  Our main issue was with the customer service throughout the ship. The people at the reception service area were very rude and not accommodating at all. As an example, we were not aware of the bowling/F1 racing/4D theater unlimited package (our fault for not checking the website in advance) available for $60 per cabin; however, once we realized it (offered to us on the 5th day of the cruise) we purchased the "unlimited" package. We asked that the previously purchased game of bowling (yes one game costing $8.00) be waived since we had now purchased the package. Customer service was not friendly at all and basically said "sorry, we can't help you with that". We were disappointed with the answer, but we understood.  What we were NOT happy with was the attitude with which they gave us the answer. Almost as if they could care less.

Another item related to the "unlimited" package is that it is ONLY unlimited from 10:00am - 10:00pm and ONLY when the machines were working. Everytime we went to the bowling center, the machines were jammed, tangled or just down for service. We asked for service to fix them, but waiters  over an hour with no response.  We asked again and were told they had made the call and someone should be there shortly.  We waited another 45 minutes and asked again. This time we were told to go request service from the reception area deck 5. Down we went to deck 5... not once, not twice but three more times asking for assistance.  About four hours later someone showed up to fix the issue.  The next morning, the machine was down again.  This time we went to reception and asked for service and were told "sorry, it is down for service, there is nothing we can do for you.  We explained that we purchased the unlimited package and his response was we will refund your money and charge you $8.00 per game. Does that sound fair since it was not our fault? We were not asking for money back, just that the machine be fixed so we could use what we had already paid for.

He finally called a supervisor and it was fixed within 15 minutes.  We were then told by the technician that the bowling alley should not be played while the ship is sailing because the pins cannot stand up properly and they get tangled due to the ship movement. Strange that they sell a package that should not be used while you are sailing.  I mean we are on a cruise that is not supposed to sail, right??

I think our major complaint was at dinner each night. The assistant waiter was hit or miss.  Sometimes we would get bread and sometimes we would finally have to ask as our appetizers were being delivered. We also could not get refills on drinks most of the time. We had to ask numerous times before we finally got any refills (tea and water). My fiancé ordered a Dr Pepper twice in one night and left the table two hours later never having gotten her drink.

The Assistant Waiter made the Waiters job a lot more difficult because he would not bring refills or bread to the table.

On the 2nd formal night, lobster was served.  After I had ordered three lobster tails (I don't eat vegetables or much of anything else except meat and potatoes), our waiter said that they were told by "upper management" that they can only give one lobster per guest so they could lower their food cost.

Their difinition of "unlimited" is apparently very different from mine. I do not mind paying more money on the front end, but I do not believe you should then limit the food or entertainment.

This is my 15th cruise, 1st with MSC and most likely my last with MSC. I have been on Royal Caribbean, Princess, Carnival, Disney and now MSC. If I was asked to rank them from best to worst MSC would undoubtedly be at the bottom of the list. I

MSC Divina / Eastern Caribbean by markrousselle

First of all the ship is beautiful.  It's classicly designed and isn't flashy or gaudy like some cruise ships.  You get the feel of what Italy is with the various restaurants and the decor.  The desserts are amazing!  Best pizza I have had in years.  In fact we spoke with a couple who have cruised on the Divina three times and they told use they stopped eating pizza for 2 weeks because they were waiting to get back on board the Divina.  The gelato was delicious!   The shows on this ship are the best we have ever seen.   They had a Michael Jackson tribute show that was just outstanding.  The Witches of Paris was equally amazing.   Lots of acrobats and dance routines -- and the signers actually can sing!   We really enjoyed our cruise and the ship.

MSC Divina stinks by spacekok

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Ship was nice, our room was nice, however, the food in the buffet was always either cold or loop warm.  Our room was under the buffet, so we could hear chairs being moved around all the time.  At night, we could hear the buffet Musicak.  This was a Caribbean cruise, however the entertainment was almost always Italian.  The crew was often rude or would say NO a lot.  In general, this was a terrible experience, and I think it is safe to say, We will never cruise on MSC again.

excellent cruise by gato841

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It was divine; thank you Divina.  Loved the days at sea,  St. Maartin a great port of call, Puerto Rico good, did a great city tour not booked on the ship,  Nassau beautiful but way too crowded beach at Atlantas. Gorgeous water.

Ship, crew, service very good.  Dining room packed with too many tables.  The stairs in the auditorium need re-configuring.  Need a hand rail; perhaps down the middle or put all high=backed chairs along the edge of the stairs. Shows great; strong performances.

I loved every aspect of the cruise! We had a wonderful steward named Kadam.  He made our room comfortable and clean multiple times a day.  The food was delicious and we had a fabulous wait staff. We enjoyed our balcony and will never cruise without one. We enjoyed the games and activities.  We will be taking this cruise again in the future!

Not very pleased by gwjansen52

Food in the dining room was average at best, portions were small. Ship was difficult to navigate, only I deck (7) starboard side went from the front all the way to the back. 1 bar was smoking and had no smoke extraction system. Website stated casino was smoking and it wasn't.

A great first time experience :) by tcrowe04

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My favorite part of the cruise ship was some of the staff in the buffet area for dinner. The waiter Justin who gave our daughter the nickname "baby shy" was very nice. The chef in the pizza area was very good with our other daughter. Don't know his name since he did not speak English, but he was a nice face to meet every evening. For the parts that could improve, the fantastica experience was a total waist of money for our family. The breakfast in bed is lacking in selection. It did not help that the room service did not get our order right most of the time and one time forgot to bring it all together. Overall, the cruise was a wonderful experience and we had lots of fun with the shows and little fun things to do during the day :)

Try something new by bublsheri

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have cruised Carnival and RCCL multiple times this was our 1st MSC cruise.  The Divina is beautiful and very comfortable.  I have never been on a cruise line that carried such a diversity in passengers.  There were at least 25 different languages spoken by just the passengers another 44 by the crew.  Our Captain could speak about 20 languages and read another 5.  It does seem to make some of the things you do seem to take a little long for all the translations but is so worth it. With the diversity in cultures they do an excellent job at the buffet trying to make sure there is something for everyone, so be adventurous and try new things. Don't forget its an Italian ship so you have to try the pizza!  We loved and won all the trivia games, lol great way to make new friends.  The only things I would change is the dining room food and service seemed a little bland and if your planning on staying connected during your trip their on-line plans are a waste of money, my husband an IT guy could not get connected most of the time so it is really not worth the Money.   Also if you have built up points on other cruise lines MSC will match. Do it early it took ours over 3 weeks to go thru so we did not benefit on this cruise. But they took our diamond with RCCL and by status matching we started at their highest level - Black which comes with a whole list of benefits.

Would not recommend this cruise. Buffet is tasteless. More RUDE people on this cruise than imaginable. Don't recognize some charges on my credit card. nickel and dime at every step. live shows were good. Even sell jewelry the entire trip on tables-tacky. Pools were small. One would hope there'd be a lap pool. Gym was nice. rooms were nice. buffet was lousy. Dinner was nice ar black crab. waiters were a plus.  Worst manicure I've ever had.

Disappointing cruise by Fraulinda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise was much too crowded, there were long lines everywhere, long wait for the elevators, impossible to get a seat by the pool, the buffet was a zoo. The food was more cafeteria food than what you would expect on a cruise.  The buffet had about 10 different kinds of pizza, hamburgers and hot dogs and one of the choices in the dining room was meatloaf.  The shows were quite good, however I found the theater uncomfortable, no leg room.  The ship itself is beautiful but in general, the cruise was a disappointment.

Very nice ship and staff! by lydiaengle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We very much enjoyed this cruise. It was our first time on MSC so we were a bit skeptical. The ship itself is top notch. Fairly new and very elaborate in it's decor. The only things we were dissapointed in with the ship was not being able to access the bow of the ship. Every other ship we had been on, it's possible to see the outside of the front of the ship. Also our room was on the 13th floor directly under the buffet. This made it really noisy at night hearing all the carts rolled around. The staff exceded our expectations. Our room attendent checked on our room at least 3 times per day and kept everything very well stocked. He always asked us if we needed anything. The dining room staff were very friendly and met our request without hesitation. We had to go to guest services a couple times and they took care of our problems immediately. The door on our closet broke, we told our room attendent and it was fixed within the hour. Also the entertainment staff were very friendly and exciting to be around. The food in the dining room was very good. I would say comparable to other ships. The buffett was very good in our opinion. Not as americanized as other cruise lines, but had lots of ethnic options and the food seemed to be a higher quality than other ships weve been on. The pizza was outstanding! We ate it everyday! The shows were awesome. With the ship being mostly European guests, we noticed being cut off in line a lot and people just being rude. I guess that's just different cultures. Two things we didn't like was that loud music was played in most outdoor areas. It was hard to find a quiet place to relax and read a book which is the other thing we noticed that there wasn't a nice quiet study or library to read. The library on board had about two shelves of books and filled with conference room seats. Not very comfortable or inviting to relax in. As far as ports and excursions. We skipped the pricey onboard excursions. When we got to St Martin we opted for one of the tours offered locally. $25 / person to take us on a tour of the island. We felt it was a waste. They gave us very limited time at each stop so most of the time was spent in a hot van touring poor areas. Next time, we would just take the $7 water taxi to phillipsburg and stay on the beach. Next port was San Juan and it was our favorite port by far. We toured Fort San Cristobal for $5 /person and it was very interesting. The fee also included the other fort that is within walking distance. We walked around old San Juan and saw some beautiful spots. We loved the island. Next port was Nassau, Bahamas. Not very impressive to us. Junky and the people were very pushy for us to buy from them. We didn't feel very safe venturing away from the shops so we only stayed for an hour then returned to the ship. Embarkation and Disembarkation went very smoothly. Over all MSC wasn't our favorite cruiseline but it was enjoyable and we will possibly cruise with them again because of their children cruise free policy and their lower rates.

service by cas2016

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was very nice and the food was very good. I thought the service and entertainment was not up to par with other cruise lines. Not a cruise line I would recommend traveling on with older kids due to the lack of entertainment for this age group. All the adult areas and events including dance club was full of young teens. other cruise lines do a much better job keeping children from adult areas. We also could not change our dining time or get a dinning table just for our party of 5.

Western Caribbean Cruise by dlhiner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite part was the excursions I participated in, new places and new things.  On board the MSC I loved our wait staff at the restaurant, Supedra  and his helper were amazing and beyond what we could ask for,  I was not thrilled with the Buffet and lack of seating, many times we walked around for 5-10 minutes trying to find seats but the food was good and the choices were good.  The entertainment team was awesome and I would love to see more activities with them.

The only down side was an excursion that my children; Anthony Hiner, Alex Hiner, Daniel Hiner and Tanner Crook did.   In the Grand Cayman's they did a kayak and snorkel excursion.    They were all inexperienced and told the guide this, they had issues and the guide left the behind not even noticing.   We did file a complaint on the ship at the excursion office and are waiting for a reply, they said we would hear something before we disembarked but we still have not heard anything a week later.  The trip was amazing but this put a damper on the week for the four involved and for me as I heard the story thinking something could have happened and the guide didn't even know there was a problem.

Had a Great time. by bill31570

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I'm a beach person. I'd typically prefer being right on the beach, toes in the sand, rather than feeling "stuck" on a boat. My wife likes the beach, but really likes the benefits of the ship. This cruise was a perfect fit for us because it stops in 4 different ports that all have great beaches, shopping, sights, etc. So, I got my beach days, and we both loved the service and food on the ship. We were also very impressed with the level of talent on the MSC Divina night show team. Really had a great time on this trip. The only thing that would have made it perfect, is if the beaches were surfing beaches, because I love to surf. These beaches have basically no waves, but are great for snorkeling and other types of water sports.
