Review summary

Great weekend cruise, maybe not the best for people new to cruising but a fun time either way. Pizza is great and staff is fun and friendly. If you can, book the YC, the experienced is elevated with lots of perks!

Embarkation

We arrived at ship around 11am. Check in at Yacht Club was super easy and within 5 minutes we were up in the lounge enjoying champagne and snacks. Ship was delayed boarding until 12pm but at 12:01 our butler walked us into the ship, past all the lines and right up to Top Sail Lounge for more champagne and light bites

Food and Dining

Food in the Yacht Club restaurant Le Muse was amazing! No complaints. The buffet was way too busy and not enough staff. Pizza, as always, was the best at sea but the rest of the buffet food was meh

Le Muse Restaurant

Absolutely amazing! Ryan and Joey were our servers and they knew what we wanted before we could even think of it. We ate there for dinner both nights and lunch on day two. Everyone knew our names after the first visit and our drink preferences. Food was top notch and they sent us extra each visit. I’m not a fan of chicken thighs but Ryan sent us an order of BBQ Chicken and it was THE BEST chicken I’ve ever had. Service and food was amazing and worth the price of YC alone

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
It was a weekend cruise so you think they would have a lot of activities but there wasn’t much. The main pool was empty the first day and people were not very happy that the pool was down 1.5 days of a two day cruise. We saw the Legends of Rock show and it was fun. Top Sail area was nice and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the ship. Other than that, not much to do except drink

Entertainment

As mentioned the show was good. Top Sail Lounge had a piano player that was nice to sit and listen to in the evening.

Service and Staff

YC service was good. Being that it was a weekend cruise the butlers didn’t seem that engaged as we have had on other longer cruises but we don’t really ask or require much anyway. That being said, we paid a premium and didn’t feel we got evert we paid for. Before the cruise they sent us an email asking what pillows we wanted and what newspaper and bottles of booze we wanted for our mini bar. We didn’t get the right pillows and no newspaper or bottles. The mini bar was complimentary and had a nice selection of soda, juice, beer and snacks but again, nothing that they offered, and we requested. The staff on the entire ship were very nice and always smiling and happy.

Ship Quality

Beautiful older ship! Shows some signs of wear and tear but that can be expected.

Cabin / Stateroom

Very small balcony despite being a “Deluxe Suite”. Again it’s an older ship and it was showing. Rooms were no nicer than a regular balcony room except a tub and marble in the bathroom and large walk-in closet

Ship tip

Expectations should be set a little lower or at least at a Carnival level and just have fun! A day on a ship is better than a day at home or in the office!

Disembarkation

Our personal experience….we met our butler in Top Sail Lounge and she walked us down, past all the lines and off the ship within 2-3 minutes, NO WAIT! The rest of the ship did not have that experience and people were screaming at us because the butler walked us around and through the line. We have been there on MSC and know it can be a nightmare but YC makes the difference.
