For us personally, we will not book with this cruise company again. We have had much better experiences on other cruise lines.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
It was the worst of any cruise embarkation we have done. We waited and waited in long lines. Everyone was confused as to which line to be in and the employees were not friendly or helpful. It took almost two hours to get onto the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The main dining room food was mediocre. The buffet was slightly better. Drinks were good though hard to get.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
We tried to do trivia but the topics were very specific so if you weren't familiar with the subject it wasn't worth playing and nobody seemed interested.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We went to the first night's show and left halfway through. We tried most of the music at the bars and it seemed like they hired people that we almost amatuers. The band in the Black & White lounge was so kitschy that they were almost good.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The people in the main dining room were quite good. They were very attentive and remembered our preferences. The service at the bars was overall not that good. They seemed almost surly.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was quite clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
The bed was quite comfortable. Otherwise it was small - especially the shower. I'm not sure a larger person could use it. We did like the balcony but half way through they pulled up drainage tiles and never replaced them so we weren't sure we should use the balcony. We were directly under the buffet so from 5:30 a.m. until later in the evening you constantly heard scraping of chairs. Even with ear plugs we were unable to sleep in.
Ship tip
Watch your billing and check it often. Also, if you thought you had connected a credit card to your account on line, you didn't. We found out that this ship doesn't have that capability so you will need to go to a kiosk to do it once you are on board.
We liked the Cay itself as it is beautiful and there were plenty of lounge chairs and shade if you wanted it. The water was beautiful and clear and we enjoyed swimming and snorkeling (not many fish though). The big downside was that because of weather, the day we were supposed to stay until 6 p.m. they cut it short and we had to be back on the ship by 1:15 p.m. They didn't have any bars or food open so it really seemed like we got shorted a day and an experience. A lot of people were very disappointed and some were downright angry as they had really been looking forward to it.
We have Global Entry and there was a Global Entry sign but they told us they weren't using it on the day we left. Once again there was confusion and long lines.
It seems counter intuitive to have to attach your credit card on a machine on the ship. Why not do it like most over cruise lines online, prior to the start of your cruise.
I was on the Divina for 19 days last month and loved it and have 3 more cruises in 2023 on Divina. You can only use the machines on board MSC ships to attach your credit card to your onboard purchase account. It’s always important to choose your own cabin and pick a location with other cabins above, below and around it for less noise.
