It was the worst cruise I have ever taken in my life. I have been on 18 cruises and I will NEVER take MSC again.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Horrible, took me 2 hours to get onboard
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
I had the Lasagna Bolognese and it tasted like hot dog chili for sauce, it was terrible and it hurt my stomach that night. The only thing that tasted good was the cheesecake, pizza and breads. The pork ribs were good as well. I got the beef spareribs and they gave me mostly fat it was bad.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
The pools were overcrowded. They had the solarium area closed off so everyone was in the main pool. So, I did not even get into the pool or the jacuzzis which is what I wanted to do when I was onboard.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment was outstanding. The singers were amazing singers the dancers amazing, jugglers, acrobats, The saxophone player they were all phenomenal.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
My waiter was great at the dining room. Although I think he was concerned about me being alone and tried to set me up with men on the ship by having them sit at my table. I told him I am fine alone.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
The rooms were clean and well managed. But the layout of the ship was terrible. You have to go up to floor 7, walk down the ship and go down in order to get to floor 5. That was terrible. The ship itself was beautiful.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
My cabin was clean and the temperature was nice. The size was fine. My only complaint was the mattress was very lumpy and hard.
Ship tip
Dont take MSC Divina the way they handle the credit cards and departure and the Ocean Cay island were all terrible.
The island is horrible. Hardly any shade. Mostly just concrete and sand. I did not see any hammocks anywhere. most of the chairs on the beach were broken so there were no chairs to sit on. I just took a swim in the ocean and came right back to the ship.
The worst experience I ever had. I received a letter in my room stating that if I leave my luggage outside I would have express departure. So I did so. However, I ended up being the last damn person on the ship. They later told me that had I brought my luggage I could have left right off the ship. That made me furious. Then, I finally get to disembark after 2 1/2 hours of waiting. They swipe my card and say I cannot leave because I have a CREDIT. I said well cant you just put it back on my card, I want to leave. They made me wait another 30 damn minutes to give me $11 in cash for the credit I had on the sea pass card. Made me FURIOUS!!!
So I would say - don’t take a cruise if you want your main activity to be the pool! I did have a similar experience to you on MSC Seaview in terms of having a credit on my account and having to get it back in cash though, which I thought was bizarre and caused a massive queue at guest services the night before disembarking. They asked you to set a ‘limit’ you wanted to spend but then actually took that full amount out of your account right away and would only refund anything you didn’t spend in cash.
People either love or hate MSC. There is no in between. I had a great experience with them in January and thought the food, entertainment and ship were great. Ocean Cay is the best private island I have been to and has at least 8 beaches, with thousands of loungers. You must not have walked past the first beach. Try cruising in January and February for cooler temperatures.
