Review summary

Guest services were unable to help with anything. They got my bill wrong several times. Ill informed and Alejandro was raising his voice at me when we were frustrated about our room change. Luggage went to the wrong room, restaurant hosts and waiters were unaccommodating.

Embarkation

The changed our rooms and we were separated from family. They could not fix it at check in and said we had to just accept the rooms given to us and then go onboard and speak to guest services. Lack of communication between the check in and the ship made fixing our problem impossible. They said that the third party we booked with were the ones who sent our reservations to MSC and that was what they got. I clearly had paperwork stating our cabin numbers side by side but they said that these were not the rooms we booked! When we got to guest services they said they could not do anything since it was the booking site that sent our reservations. I showed them our confirmation of the room numbers side by side but they were uncaring and unhelpful. They said we had to wait until everyone was checked in for them to do anything and that they were full. This made no sense to us logically since we checked in very early and they could have given our rooms to someone not yet checked in who weren't traveling with others. They really had no intention of helping us given their demeanor and illogical explanations.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Impossible to make reservations at restaurants other than the one assigned to you. Staff unhelpful and condescending. Food was mediocre. Took a long time to get drinks to our table. Last night buffet was a throw together of all the food they basically had left over. Half-hearted and paltry.

Restaurant waiters and hosts were rude. Room stewards were nice. Buffet service was great!

Cabin / Stateroom

This was not our cabin number because it was changed without our knowledge. We booked 3 cabins side by side but were given rooms on different decks and away from each other. Cabins ended up being comfortable but it was not what we booked.

Ship tip

Do not cruise on MSC and always book on the Cruise websites, not through a cruise 3rd party.

Our drinks package carried over to the private island but they only had 1 beach bar open. Experienced long lines, hassled staff and shortages.

Thanks for the review. People either love or hate MSC. I had a great experience with MSC in January and am booked on the Divina for 19 days in October.

Condescending, uncaring and rude sound very familiar. That's the reason we have cruised with MSC only once.

Thank you for taking the time to share your cruise with us. Sorry about the cabin problems. That is why I always book through the cruiseline. Yet I hear some have even had problems with that. Just remember - Even a bad day at sea beats a good day on land.

Sorry they couldn’t or wouldn’t fix the room problem

Sorry for your room debacle. This is one reason it’s often wiser to book directly with the cruise line. However, that’s no guarantee. We’ve been in your shoes, months before the ship sailed. Appreciate your feedback.
