Review summary

This cruise left much to be desired when we had such high hopes & having another option other than Carnival. We were told we could use be bumped to the level we were with Carnival but then customer service advised (rudely might I add) that we were WRONG. The ship left very little option for entertainment, rude staff and customers added to our disdain on this cruise. Thank God we didn’t waste our money on the drink package because drinks were terrible & not readily available- bar staff acted like it was a chore to mix a drink when we ordered. A fellow cruiser was made to feel as though she was a burden due to being gluten free. The sewage smell was horrid also. The pools / hot tubs were always packed but shut down early and all deck chairs put away entirely too soon - laying on the deck at night is often relaxing for patrons. Someone REALLY needs to look at options to improve this line.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Terrible delay due to debarking cruisers before us staying on hours too long

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Main dining staff (table 161) were rude. We literally utilized main dining x2 the entire cruise due to this. The buffet was mediocre at best.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
The pools were over packed continuously & chairs/pools shut entirely too early when entertainment left much to be desired

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Only one show (the cirque de sole type show) was even worth watching & that was weird also due to the costume choices. The Tina Turner tribute was an embarrassment

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The ONLY reason this is a 5 is because our room steward was AMAZING - Andy was his name & he should be training all of the other staff. He deserves better pay && a promotion. The rest of the staff— please refrain on customer service

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
We noticed trash about the decks often, 5th floor often smelled of overwhelming sewage, plus side- the stairwells were gorgeous

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Thank God for a good cabin with a balcony- it was our saving grace for this cruise. Once again- Andy was AMAZING!!! ♥️

Ship tip

Bring your own entertainment & do NOT purchase the drink package because there aren’t staff walking around with drinks as on Carnival, bar options are shabby & bar tenders need retraining

Ports of call

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Aruba always amazes me with the activities & beauty

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Lovely port, beautiful beaches

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

3 out of 5
Beautiful area but we felt as though we were in danger most of our excursion.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Cayman is ok

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

3 out of 5
In 5yrs it will possibly be good

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Rude staff, rude cruisers- someone needs to develop a plan for debarkation & ensure cruisers follow directions- ie- forming a line & acting like adults

I cruised Divina in December as well. I enjoyed the ship very much. Most staff accommodated pleasantly with the exception of Josef in Guest Services. His lack of eye contact and engagement with guests was obvious, he was rude and it seemed as if he did not want to be there. I’m sorry your experience was such a poor one.

Thank you for sharing. I have read reviews from good to horrible. At least I will not be going on my cruise with visions of grandeur leading to complete disappointment.

MSC seems to have many reviews from 5 star to 1 star. Seems to depend on the level of what people purchaze and knowing aheadnod time what is included in the level purchased like, bella vs yacht club etc That said, there is no excuse for things like smelly floors and rude workers I have found in the yacht club it to be workers who seem to go above and beyond. But... I agree,u shld not have to spend 1000$'s extra to have a worker be willing to give great service etc. The food msc , on alllll ships, needs to be worked on for sure. We have found this a issue in the yacht club level also. We have cruised 6 x in yacht club and cannot tell u once we got home and thought to ourselves " wow.. food was great.. lol" the only time we dis that was on a ncl ship in the haven. Happy 2020 to all fellow travelers.

Wow we had a completely opposite, awesome experience 2 years ago. We also loved Aruba and Curacao though!
