Review summary

I loved the international atmosphere on the ship. I met people from several different countries. All of the crew members were very friendly and the ship was clean. The food was very good for the most part. A lot of Italian/Mediterranean cuisine. The entertainment was the best out of any ship I have been on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The breakfast buffet was the best I have seen. They had a mixture of American & European items. Lunch was excellent as well. They had several pasta options daily and very delicious pizza. Several varieties of imported cheese. More than any other ship. They also had hamburgers, sandwiches, meat, vegetables & a salad bar. Pretty good desserts, I especially liked the fruit tarts & flans. Dinner could have been better. The buffet was limited because they said most people went to the MDR. The food in the Black Crab dining room was also very good. The soups in the MDR could have used more seasoning. They were bland. The main courses, salads & desserts were great. The gelato was delicious and only $ 2.60 for two pretty big scoops. There were also soft-serve machines on the buffet deck. They were open from 12 to 4 & 6 to 10.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The best entertainment on any ship I have been on. They didn't have any comedy shows because of the number of languages spoken by the passengers. They had a lot of singing & dancing as well as an acrobatic team. There was a show based on the movie The Mask, an Italian opera show, The Witches of Paris, a pirate show and tributes to both the rock group Queen & Michael Jackson. All of them were excellent.

Service and Staff

Every crew member we interacted with was very friendly & helpful. Several times the buffet staff saw my parents with their hands full and offered to carry their food to the table. Mark, our cabin steward was really great. He kept the cabin spotless & brought us anything we needed. Abdool, our waiter in the MDR was always very friendly and the service was pretty fast. It took about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour and a half to get all courses. I've been on ships where it took 2 hours to get the whole meal finished. Finally, Merrylice the waitress in the Piazza del Doge bar was excellent. Within a couple of days, she learned our names & what kind of drinks we liked.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The crew worked very hard to keep the ship clean. Plenty of elevators. I loved the heated indoor pool. It was hard to find a lounge chair on sea days but that has been the same on every ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was decent sized. Plenty of storage space. The bed couch was large and very comfortable. It was a bit tight to get to the balcony when the bed couch was open.

Ship tip

There are two different sections of the buffet. When you get to the area where the hamburgers & salad bar are, make sure you go around the corner for more choices.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

A lot of traffic but all we did was get on & off the ship.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

We took the Green Grotto Cave tour. They took us through two different caves. A lot of beautiful underground rock formations as well as a small underground lake. We saw some bats flying around but they didn't bother anybody. The second cave does have 65 steps so if you have problems climbing stairs you would not want to take this tour. Some of the vendors outside the ports can be aggressive but just tell them no thanks.

George Town, Grand Cayman

We took the amphibious bus tour. It took us over some coral reefs & shipwrecks. The video moniters were sometimes hard to see because of the glare from the sun. They did take us to an area where they gave us bread to feed the fish. A lot of them came up. There was also about a half hour stop at Seven Mile Beach.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We took the Cozumel Highlights & Shopping tour. The first stop was the Discover Mexico Park. It featured models of some of Mexico's historic sights as well as a small art museum. Next up was the chocolate factory. They gave a demonstration of how the Mayans made chocolate. They had samples in the gift shop. The third stop was the Tequila Museum. We were allowed to try about 9 types of tequila. After that they took us around the island. They made a stop by the shore where you can have a picture taken or get some snacks/drinks. Of course, there were shopping opportunities at each stop.

Nassau, Bahamas

We took the panoramic city tour. They took us over to Atlantis where we could walk around a little bit. The second stop was Fort Fincastle where you could get some great views of the city. Then it was on to the John Watling's Rum Distillery. They handed out some great pina colada samples. If you did want to sample some of the rums, you did have to pay extra. The last stop was a beach that had great views of the port & Atlantis. The tour bus did go by quite a few historic sights & the bus stopped several times for people to take pictures from inside the bus.

I haven't been on the Divina yet, I'm booked in Sept and I keep seeing comments about the food just being ok. I'm hoping that it's not Terrible cause the ship looks gorgeous.
