Review summary

We felt we were misled by Royal Caribbean regarding use of masks. We had previously cancelled a scheduled cruise with another line specifically because of their stated mask policies. This was our first RC cruise and our last.

Wonderfully quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We did not go to any specialty restaurants. Found it strange that they were located just outside the buffet. Not a very "elegant" entrance. The food in main dining room was not remarkable. Typical fish, beef, pork, pasta selections.

Onboard Activities

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
If I could separate these, I would. The dining room and bars staff were great, maybe because they weren't under the stress of masked guests. I would rate them 5 stars. However I would give one star to the rest of the staff. I don't know if they were being watched or what, but we our room steward and two employees at one of the shops were absolutely rude regarding wearing masks.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our balcony room was easy to move around in. The balcony had room for 2 chairs and table. I rate the cabin 4 only because there were a couple of places where spills on the carpet had not been cleaned.

Ship tip

100% fully vaccinated crew and guests means nothing. You are expected to wear a mask any time you are moving outside your cabin. Once you are in the bar or the casino, you can "safely" remove your mask i.e. no staff will rush to you in admonishment!

Well we had a great time on the Mariner a month ago. Every part of our experience was top notch. I was aware before cruise of the mask requirements and had no issue with it.

Correction to typo above: “before your sailing”. Interesting you list no previous cruises. Was this your first?

Mask policies were on the Royal home page for MONTHS deforestation your sailing. If you don’t want to wear masks, you should cruise on a line that doesn’t require them. This review has zero credibility IMO as it is related primarily to having to wear a mask. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

I was on the Mariner three weeks ago. There are plenty of other places on the ship where the vaccinated don’t have to wear masks. It was a complete non issue, and this reviewer is simply being dramatic.

People don’t want to get vaccinated, don’t want to wear a mask, I get it but cruise are trying to stay in business, and keep people safe

@jmac313, you've got to be kidding! Just what the world needs, more angry and frustrated people. Should probably put that wasted energy to better use...

Shouldn’t have been surprised. Misleading review. In my opinion, the masks weren’t enforced well on my Mariner cruise. The staff were friendly on reminding you to wear your masks. There are vaccinated only areas where you can remove your mask too.

Thanks for the review. We’ve always had a great experience on Royal Caribbean. The mask policy has been stated on their website for several weeks and included in all email correspondence, so it should not have been a surprise.
