Review summary

Extremely disappointed. Was loyal to RC, but after this cruise, will try a different cruise line. SHIP: MARINER OF THE SEAS ROOM: 8546. Smelled musty. Mold in bathroom and on bathroom door. Fridge was not cold/didn't seem to work. Balcony door hard to open and close. Otherwise, room was ok. Room comfortably fit 4 adults. King bed and a pull out couch that is big enough for 2 adults (6ft 2in. 200 lbs & 5ft 8in 160 lbs).  ACTIVITIES: ON-BOARD: Always something to do. Sky Pad - awesome! Seriously, give it a try! Flow rider, waterslide, mini golf, ice rink (bring long pants and socks), hammocks, jungle gym, basketball court, rock wall, 4 hot tubs, 2 pools, exercise room, spa, extremely SMALL track (was disappointed with the size and layout of the track. Extremely FRUSTRATING having to constantly battle getting around non-exercising people who refuse to move off the track. Movies, casino, ice show, dance show, comedy, bingo, dances, art show and auction. Suggest go to activities even if the write up doesn't make it seem interesting. You might be pleasantly surprised with the fun. If you don't like it, go to another activity, even if it already started.  I left and went into lots of shows when already started. The ones I didn't think I would like turned out to be the most enjoyable. EXCURSIONS: Excursions ARE experiences as well as tourist traps. 1) Ask questions. Use the internet and do own search to find out information. 2) Purchase excursions in advance. They cost more on the ship!  NASSAU: Went on a group jewelry excursion. It wasn't planned in advance, but it didn't cost anything to join the group and purchases weren't mandatory. The ship shopping person was awesome! We listened and learned to shop wisely on and off the ship. The name of their game is to get your $$$. Know your stuff, stall with purchase, lower the price, check the quality. Some items on the ship ARE a good price but check the quality. It might be a "name brand", but where was it made? We also went snorkeling. Well, we thought we would go snorkeling. We had all our items for snorkeling but soon discovered it was not a good idea. If a name gives any indication, take heed with the name - Junkaroo beach. Yup, it is just that - JUNK! Locals constantly hounding people to rent an umbrella and 2 chairs for $20 -$25 and selling extremely cheap liquor (seriously, hangover category). We cut that adventure short and headed back to the ship. COCO CAY: 2 parts to CoCo Cay. Waterpark and beach. Paid $46 a person (3 people) and stayed maybe 3 hours at the waterpark. What I recall, the waterpark has 6 waterslides, a wave pool, rope climb across pond, a water rock wall, and lockers. The middle section of the island has a bar and out of pocket restaurant. The beach side is a roped off beach, with umbrellas and chairs. Didn't venture further on the island. Balloon ride and zipline was more $$. The seagulls were entertaining and adventurous. They would swoop down and steal food. Sometimes off the plate you were eating. The iguanas tolerated a safe distance for pictures. The schools of fish kept their distance from the beach swimmers. Would I go back? Nope. My opinion CoCo Cay was NOT ok. Leftover lunch items (corn on the cob & burgers) from CoCo Cay was served at dinner in the Windjammer. Speaking of food: Extremely disappointed with the food. Pizza at the Cafe was burnt. The ones that weren't burnt tasted like cardboard. AND, stir fried rice every day. Seriously! Was on the Majesty of the Seas in May and the food was absolutely wonderful! The food selection was amazing and nothing was burnt or repeated.
