Review summary

The ship is new and nice. I have been on over 10 Carnival Cruises and this was my first Royal Caribbean cruise in about 15 years. I was expecting a much nicer room, better food, and better service. It was about the same as Carnival in terms of cabin and food. The service was better than Carnival, but it was not worth the extra money. The ship was much larger and more elegant than Carnival but it’s not worth the extra money. The ports and excursions were beautiful. When planning my next cruise will probably look for Carnival cruises first.

I always compare it to like Walmart and Target. I'll still go to Walmart (carnival) but if I can I'm going to Target (Royal). But I will never turn down a cruise lol

I've sailed on both, RCI it's by far the best. When I vacation, there are times I want to be wild and crazy and then there are times that I want to relax. I want to be able to tell the difference, on Carnival I couldn't. And yes the extra money is well worth my serenity. I'll be on Mariner of the seas Monday, and just about can't wait!

I agree, captaingman. Have sailed both and will not go on carnival again. The serenity area was anything but serene. I was expecting a quiet place away from the loud music but it overlooked the pool area so it was not quiet. Compare that to the rccl solarium and there's no contest. But, that's why different lines cater to different people

I must agree I’ve tried both cruise ships! Their are gud and bad services! The food for me was much better with Royal although it’s def more expensive! Carnival by far is the party ship 🚢 if they can upgrade more in their services just might be a win win! They are upgrading though!!

Carnival is a party ship with different clientele all together. While I respect your opinion I beg to differ, the service and the food is worth the extra money. Happy cruising
