My first and LAST cruise with Royal Carribean

Room Type: Suite

We were a group of 10 travelling with half of the people doing cruise for the first time with the other half seasoned cruiser. 

 

Upon boarding, we were immediately pressured by staff as sales people to purchase better/premium meals.

 

ALL food on the cruise was cold to lukewarm EVERYDAY. We had to ask for coffee to be reheated to get it extra-hot. This was only avilable if you were staying in Gold Suite. Which should not be the case. 

 

Horrible experience with Shore excursions

 

Rude attitude from staff and misleading marketing information - NO unlimited Ben&Jerry We read from the reviews online that when we board the cruiseline they would have Ben & Jerry’s store, and we would only need to pay an entrance fee to have UNLIMITED Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream. When we enquired about the unlimited ice-cream with one of the Chinese female staff who served us, we were greeted with frowny face and were told in a rude attitude that there is no such thing

Cabin / Stateroom
Our room attenance was nice and pleasant and friendly.

The TV program in the room was mediocre with no latest movies, When we cruised other cruise ship it had all the latest blockbuster movies on TV. It had also only one TV where as we had TWO TV in our other cruises. One for the bedroom and the other one for the living room.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Our party could not check in together with priority check-in, even though we were told specifically told that this would not be a problem.
Ship Quality
Even though it has been updated recently. The carpet looked old and worn, we had toilets that can not be flushed during middle of our trip that we needed to call maintenance to fix it.
Destinations and Excursions
We attended Heritage tour in Penang, Malaysia and we were had an absolutely horrible and terrible experience. The tour guide told everyone upon arrival that it was an English speaking tour. Everyone acknowledged it. When we were heading to the Thai Buddhist temple, I was asking the tour guide, in English, why we have a Thai Buddhist temple and not a Hindu Buddhist temple and the tour guide respond back to me in CHINESE, ‘I DO NOT UNDERSTAND CHINESE’. My travel companion next to me was also horrified and appalled by this lack of professionalism. Furthermore we were been forced to wait for the tour guide for each stop we had to make for the excursion when he specifically told us to be on time and he was the one who was not on time ALL THE TIME! We did voice our concern to JJ our concierge, but we were only refunded 15% of our trip.

Rude attitude from staff and misleading marketing information.

 Most of the on-board staff DO NOT acknowledges you when you are nearby and DO NOT smile nor say good morning, hello, or good afternoon.
Food and Dining
There was no change of menu of food on the windjammer. We were also trying to see if the food was any better if we ordered from room service menu. It is not much better than the food from windjammer. This has caused us hesitant for us to buy even premium food from Chop’s Grill. We had excellent food when we were cruising with other cruiseline and when we ordered the premium service with other cruiseline the food was top notch. We can not give enough praises for other cruiselines but we can’t say the same for Royal Caribbean.

Singapore
Don't go to the tourist trap restaurants. The Chilli crab and the Hai-nan Chicken and the chicken soup is not all that it cracked up to be.

Had a VERY VERY BAD experience with Shore Excursion. We immediately complained after our trip but damage already done. You are better off organising and taking your own trip

You need to negotiate for a price if you want to use local taxi.

Tip

DON'T GO ON THIS SHIP! and no these capital letters are an understatement.

I had half of the people who were cruising for the first time with us and they ALL said they would NEVER DO cruise AGAIN as their option to travel.
