Review summary

Enjoyable cruise. Some of the destinations leave a lot to be desired.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was a fly cruise. Coaches from the airport were well organised and being a small ship (just 1200 passengers) embarkation didn’t take long. There was no Premium check in as we had on previous cruises.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All food was excellent. We had buffet breakfast in Lido, lunch in either Lido or Terrace Grill and dinner in Meridian. We had one night in Kora La and one in Mistral.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Not the sort of ship to have activities. There are two deck-shuffleboard courses marked but no equipment (unless it’s by request only). There is a games room but this was occupied by jigsaws in progress.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Not a fan of onboard entertainment. Was mostly song and dance shows but did have very good comedy magician a couple of evenings. Daytime was usual Bingo, quizzes etc. Good trio in Horizons but guitarist in Hemingway’s was poor.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Most staff very friendly and helpful especially cabin steward who managed to give us the twin bed we ordered despite Receptionist saying beds are fixed and it can’t be done.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Kept in very good order. Did find the interior layout a bit confusing, frequently lost.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very roomy even when bed was (eventually) split. Plenty of storage. Shower over bath was a bit low and tight. Balcony ample but some were bigger and had sun-bed as well as chairs. Cabins 2 & 21 have no privacy on balconies. Usual noise from corridor at night but worries about noise from sun deck above proved unfounded.

Ship tip

Be aware there is vibration from the engines. Most of the time this is barely noticeable but there are various locations were it is more pronounced.

Ports of call

Corfu, Greece

5 out of 5
Lovely old town with variety of activities. Found a nice little beach and waterside restaurant.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

3 out of 5
Having wanted to visit for some time I was disappointed when there. Pretty, old town but not much to it. Cost £20 each to walk the walls. Cable car was shut through a dispute with the council. Full of tourist tat shops and restaurants. Another town flogging itself as a location of Game Of Thrones which I’ve never seen.

Chania, Crete

4 out of 5
Quick and cheap bus from the port into Chania. Large covered market and picturesque harbour.

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
Very scenic location. Interesting old town with a bit of a climb up to castle which provides good views of the valley. Beaches nearby.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

Kalamata, Greece

Bit of a Ryan Air stop. Famous for its olives but not much else going for it. Good beaches short walk from ship.
