Review summary

Second time on this ship, came back because we really liked it. The shows and the comics were really good…food is decent, not gourmet, but so many options (most are included) you could find something you liked. Saw lots of reviews on social media saying food was terrible! Not true! I’m a pretty good cook , I was in the restaurant business, and we live in an area known for great Italian food amongst other cuisines. Not everything is exactly how I would prepare it, but the cruise line has to accommodate tastes of people from all over the country and we all have different ideas of what’s good so I’m content with what they prepare….for 7000 passengers. I bet some of the negative remarks come from people raised on frozen and fast food (yuck). No one complains about the quantity though!

Fast and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very good, I do miss a few of the items that used to be on the menus several years ago……personal preference, there’s still a lot to choose from and quality is good

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Not enough time to do everything or repeat favorites! Shows, comedians, trivia, music, lounging at the pool, people watching….something going on all the time

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Best entertainment crew we seen on our 14 cruises. Shows , even ones we’ve seen in the past ( they rotate and add new shows every few years) were updated and enjoyable. Musicians were incredible, lots of talent onboard

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always top notch, even if they weren’t the ones to be attending you (wait staff, room stewards)

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Excel class larger ship has a different design than prior ones, nice traffic flow for increased passengers aboard. Ship is only 4 years old so everything is pristine, except surprisingly the flooring around the Lido pool was just peeling off/failing. Must have been defective material, never saw this on any other ship. Wonder how they can replace it with guests onboard constantly…….

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Compact but had everything we needed ;clean and comfortable. We were hardly ever there except to sleep shower and dress, so much to do aboard

Ship tip

Inside fun is decks 6/7/8; outdoor fun is 16/17/18. Look over deck plans before travel so you can get a handle on where things are. We traveled with first time cruisers who said it was overwhelming and they were glad we knew our way around

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Been here plenty of times, they’ve done a nice job renovating, we just get off ship to walk around and stretch, not an exciting port

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Nice cruise port area. Again we’ve been here multiple times and have previously done the shore excursions we were interested in, so we just spend a few hours here, grab a drink and a few souvenirs and back to the ship

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Beautiful beach and margaritaville bar is nice. Never did shore excursions , been here 6 or 7 times

Disembarkation

Fast…got off ship at time promised, we’re through baggage claim and customs in less than 10 minutes. Ground transportation is confusing and very poorly marked….not really marked at all. A few employees directing traffic pointed us in the right direction for our Uber though
