Review summary

Overall we had a fun cruise. This was my first cruise on one of the Excel class so it was certainly different from the other 7 ships I have sailed on. We had a wonderful time in the Karaoke with Shy who is just awesome. He was friendly and a lot of fun and entertaining. Enjoyed all activities that he was in charge of.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffet was really good, the speciality restaurants foods were great but the main dining room was okay. The food in Cucino del Capitano was nice, the food in Chibang was awesome and the most wonderful experience was with Jerwin and Kiki at the Bonsai Teppanyaki. This was a dining experience not to be missed.

Onboard Activities

Lots of pools was great. Only thing the Serenity deck pool is under cover so it was cold a lot of the time.

Entertainment

The first 2 comedians were really great. The ladies were very lacking and a lot of people left their shows. The music was great and the stage shows were really good.

Service and Staff

Our room steward Maarif was amazing and did a wonderful job taking great care of us. The waiters in the Main Dining Room were really slow for seaday brunch and still did not receive the juices that were asked for. The food was terrible and did not go back to seaday brunch. We had Joseph for our waiter for dinner in the Main Dining Room and he was awesome.

Ship Quality

The ship was clean at all times and if anything happened they were straight onto it and cleaned immediately. The only thing I didnt like was the main stage area with the windows behind it. During one of the beautiful shows (Enchanted theme) due to some of the seats being up 2 decks people just kept walking back and forth etc and it took away the feel of the show. You can't see the floor if they leave the stage so you also miss a lot of the show. Wasn't my favorite area of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

The room was very clean and had a lot of great features. My only dissapointment was that the bathroom is no bigger than a closet. You cannot move in there and we had this massive balcony that we could have put our beds on which was a waste of space so the bathroom was just inadequate. The room was comfortable and loved the new glass door fridge and the usb ports beside the bed and extra power outlets. Extra cupboard space was great.

Ship tip

Learn you way around as best you can. It is a huge ship and lots of places to go and get to and a walk from one end to the other lol

Disembarkation

No one was communicating with the staff and we were told to be in the theatre by 8.30 but that was changed to the Limelight Lounge which was overcrowded and just chaos. They did supply complimentary continental breakfast there so that was a lovely surprise.
