Mardi Gras

7 Night Western Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 07, 2023

Ship: Mardi Gras

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Review summary

A beautiful ship that we recommend. It was very packed full of kids that didn't behave. The staff was great and the ship has potential. If the ship isn't at max capacity, it would have been a 5 star review.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was great on some days, and just ok on others. I think since our cruise was so busy, they were pumping out the food as fast as they could. We also loved the multiple free dining options. Chi Bang was my favorite.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There are so many things to do on this ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was very good, and so were the parties.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff did amazing for what they had to deal with. Over 6k passengers and a lot of kids that were behaving good.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Lots of stains on the floor, and kids making a mess around the ship. Other than that, the ship was clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We stayed in Cabin 10367. An excel suite. The room was incredible. It was huge. The balcony was incredibly huge. There were two of us in our cabin, but had family sailing in other cabins. We would hang out in the room with 9 people and had plenty of seating for everyone.

Ship tip

Have a great time, and understand that Mardi Gras is a new ship that everyone wants to sail. The ship is beautiful and has so much potential. We sail on the Jubilee in December and are super excited. The whole excel class is full of amazing ships.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

We went to Xcaret park. We didn't realize it was a 45 min ferry ride. It's a very nice port with a lot to do.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Very nice beach day. Get out there early and enjoy the beach before it gets too packed.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Very nice. We did the ATV ride and had a lot of fun.

What were the kids doing that was so bad? I’ve been on a lot of cruises without many kids and the adults make a huge mess all by themselves.

Glad u enjoyed your cruise. We are a family of 15 on our annual family cruise that will board her June 10th. We are already booked on the Jubilee out of Galveston June 2024 for our annual family cruise

Appreciate your detailed feedback. I am surprised that so many children are out of school more often. I guess there no longer is an “off” season. Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of the crowds.
