Would not recommend this ship, and would not sail on Carnival Mardi Gras again!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
No issues with embarkation. Very smooth, nice facilities, got on board with no issues.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining room was fine, very crowded, and placement of some tables had you feeling as though you were sitting in the walkway, but the food was fine, and the employees were always wonderful! Chibang was a let down! Overcrowded and food was not good.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pools were way too small for any type of enjoyment. Men stripping out of swim trunks to walk over to the shower near the hot tubs on Deck 16 was creepy! Disgusting pervert actually!!!! Serenity was not serene at all, too crowded in the pool (which was more like a small bathtub.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Always excellent. They go above and beyond.
Ship Quality

I'm not sure who designed this ship, but they forgot to add an actual functioning bathroom in the cabins (at least the cover balconies), and the bathrooms in the public areas that you waived your hand in front of was nothing more than a view into watching people urinate! You could not see outside while walking inside the ship. It was just very cut up, small spaces for a new larger ship.
Cabin / Stateroom

No, no and nope! They took space away instead of providing normal space. The bathroom was so cramped, you could not ever get ready in the bathroom (as on the Horizon). I kept wondering how large people (and I mean like 250 or more pounds could comfortably move around). When you sat on the toilet, you could also brush your teeth.
Ditto! We just got off the ship on Saturday. I have zero desire to go again. There were both pro's and cons but the biggest thing was the OVERCROWDED ship. The pizza line averaged 50-75 pp waiting for pizza most of the time and forget about the punchliner. You had to wait in line 45 minutes just to try and get in. Never did!
I was on the Mardi Gras this past July and it was full capacity. I agree with the pools are small, but didn't have any of the problems you had. Will sail on her again, my wife and I enjoyed our 43rd anniversary and loved the ship.
Thanks for the review. I’ve seen lots of complaints about the design of the Mardi Gras, especially public spaces being too small and feeling overcrowded. Hopefully they will resolve that on future builds.
