I have cruised with Carnival on 3 previous cruises, and twice on other cruise lines. Carnival is by far the most fun to cruise with, although this past cruise was a disappointment, both in the food options and excursions.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very efficient process, had no issues.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Would have liked more dining options available in mid and late afternoon. Was not impressed by the specialty options. The main dining room was excellent, however, and although there was a mix-up and our traveling companions were assigned a different table, the dining room changed it for us and was very accomodating.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Enjoyed the roller coaster and ropes course. Pools were exceptionally crowded but very well maintained. Used the fitness center almost daily -- could be a little larger for this size ship -- was often crowded.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Shows, musicians and DJs were very good, as we have always found on Carnival cruises. The comedians and Piano bar guy were exceptional.
Children's Programs
No children traveling with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Room steward was exceptional.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Common areas were well designed and maintained. Casino should have non-smoking areas; that was the main reason for not using the casino.
We originally DID NOT choose this port; our itinerary was supposed to stop at San Juan, but the itinerary was changed several months before departure and we were not able to change our dates due to family obligations. We did not do an organized excursion, as all of our party had been to the Bahamas before, so we disembarked and paid a local taxi to drive us around the island.
Was very disappointed in both this port and the excursion. Our excursion made a stop at a local liquor store but did not allow enough time for a local lunch or shopping; too much time was allocated for shopping at the pier. If I wanted to spend my money at chain shopping/dining experiences I would have stayed at home! Would have preferred more local experiences.
