Majesty of the Seas

Review summary
A very rewarding experience. A lot of value for the money. Yes, I could have booked a new ship with over 5000 passengers and loads of activities but again you get what you pay for. I cruise for the relaxation and interaction with the staff.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Went smoothly. Fast and efficient.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining-early seating. Food was excellent. All too often you read reviews here and elsewhere that cause doubt about the quality. I found that it was good as good I have found on any ship. Would rate this a 5 star
Windjammer- not bad, however nothing special. Would rate it 3 star.
No other venues visited.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
My wife and I don’t often participate in ship’s activity so for me to comment is unfair. However, There seemed to be a lot of activity to chose from if you were so inclined. I did participate with my son in law in the “Automobile Manufacturer’s” trivia which I enjoyed (we won by the way 😂😂😂. The prize was “chanky”-a RCCL key chain -value sixty cents (US currency) -that’s $.60 for you in Louisiana. So for the prize I say - Big Whup.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Like so many other facets of a cruise, this is a very subjective area. Therefore, I have tried to be objective in my review. As an example, even though I may not be a fan of a certain genre of music, I try to eliminate my likes and dislikes of the style or genre and evaluate the quality and professional performance of the entertainer.
With that, I separate the entertainment into two areas- cruise line singers and dancers. The singers, when singing solo parts were average at best. Collectively however, they sounded good. For this area, I would rate as three stars, simply average.
The other area is the guest entertainers and for those I give a five star rating. I’m afraid too many times folk that write a review, especially negative reviews simply convey their likes or dislikes of the type of entertainment rather than the quality of the entertainers. With that, one of the guest entertainers was Tony Tillman who was phenomenal-very high energy and very professional. The other guest was a comedian- last name Harris (sorry I don’t remember his first name) and while I have heard funnier comedians, again, he was very professional and did a phenomenal job.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Simply put, our wait staff and cabin steward were/are phenomenal. It is the employees that make cruising special. Without the relationship with the employees (that is why I don’t like anytime dining- you have a different wait staff every meal) a cruise is just another night in a room away from home and just another meal in a restaurant. The entire interaction with the ships crew is what separates cruising from other modes of vacations. They work long hard hours and deserve your kindness and generosity.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Again, this is a very subjective area. I gave a 5 star rating considering Majesty of the Seas is one of the oldest ships in the cruise industry and yet, overall, it was clean and attractive. When you consider that it withstands 24/7-365 days of abuse by 2400 humans, they do an outstanding job.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Very small but you know the old saying-you get what you pay for. I went cheap and got what I paid for. It was extremely clean and aesthetically appealing for what it was. Next time I’m going on six star cruise, think Silver Sea, and paying for a suite,, one caveat, I’ll need a co-signer-any volunteers?
Ship tip
It’s a fine, smaller ship with a phenomenal staff. Enjoy your cruise. Hope my comments have been helpful.
The price for using the water park was worth the money. We visited the island several years ago and about the only thing to do was lay in the sun or snorkel. RCCL has done a fantastic job of adding fun things for the family.
Thank you for your review. I agree each review for the individual ships is subjective. My wife and I are not fond of the large ships like Oasis. Too big, busy, and crowded. But that's not to say I don't understand the appeal of such ships to others. We have been on Majesty and she is our favorite ship so far. Yes she has seen better days but the crew more than makes up for any of the qualities she might be lacking that are found in the larger ships.
Thank you for your positive review. We have been on cruises full of crazy college students, awful winds, cold and rainy days and of course perfect days and here is what we believe. .if you are lucky enough to be on a cruise you are lucky enough.
Excellent review. Glad you enjoyed it. We too cruise for relaxation and the ports and don’t need the latest & greatest amenities or to constantly be entertained. We have also always found good variety and quality in the dining room and buffet. I’m not sure what those that complain about the food on a cruise ship eat normally, but it must be incredible for them to be so upset the food on the ship.
