Review summary

The cruise was wonderful until the return portion (the last day/night). Our ship followed Hurrricane Michael back to Tampa, FL which caused many to be sick all day long and me to be up all night praying that we did not die. During the day, the swells were 15’ high, according to the Captain, and who knows what at night. I felt like I was in a horror movie from 1:30am till 6am. Several times, I almost rolled off my bed due to the waves and heard noises that sounded as though our ship might break in half. The ship was moving up and down and side to side. To say that I was scared and upset with the Captain, making the decision to follow the hurrican, is an understatement. No Mother should have to lay in bed wondering how she will get both of her children out safely if the ship goes down. Royal Carribean should of kept us far away from Hurrican Michael.

Well its the luck of the draw when you cruise during hurricane season. If the ship would have been in danger hands down they would have sailed away. Cruise ships worry more about the ships than the cruisers trust me there was 0 danger

I love a bit of rock and roĺl on a cruise. We even had a captains warning on how bad a storm would be overnight. By the way there are hundreds of cruises a year that sail in storms how many do you hear of sinking or breaking up. @kayjean. Stupid statement , no captain would endanger life just to save a few bucks.

@kkaliser, I get it. And is it so far-fetched, when the cruise lines are now charging for things that used to be included, that they might possibly not want to take extra time for safety's sake in order to save a buck?

Rough seas, while unpleasant, are a part of cruising and the ships are built to handle them. The Majesty, being a smaller ship, actually handles the pitch and roll better than the newer, taller ships. I’m sure it was scary but the crew knows best and always puts passenger safety first. The last thing any cruise line wants is to have an accident, injury or loss of life!

Just think how upset you and everyone else would have been if you missed your flights. You made it safely so it seems the Captain made the best choice in the circumstance. Cruising means things can go wrong and you don't have much control. It is not for everyone.

Captain's know very well what is safe & what isn't. You need to trust in their experience. They will never put their passengers or their ship in any unnecessary danger. We too have sailed in identical conditions. I do speak from experience. With all the amazing navigating instruments, the crew do an amazing job.
