Review summary

We generally had a great time on the cruise and would consider another.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Generally good, staff was excellent. Our complaint was dealing with luggage. We travel light and carried on rather than checked bags, but it'd be nice if we were able to just put the luggage outside our cabins before the cabins were ready, so we didn't have to navigate the ship for a couple of hours with our bags in tow.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Quality of the food in the dining room was excellent. The staff were very accommodating of our son's food allergy, too. The buffet was pretty good. Generally, the beverages were good. However, we had a recurring problem with drinks actually matching what we ordered. On at least three different occasions, a drink was ordered, but the drink that was served was not quite what was ordered/on the menu. For e.g., one time, a 'smoky margarita' was on the menu and ordered (with a smoked mezcal). But - a regular margarita was served. That was sent back, but then another regular was served again. Apparently, they were out of the mezcal, but instead of informing us when they served the regular one, they just tried to pass of the regular one. This happened a couple of times with different types of drinks throughout the cruise.

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

We had a ton of fun at the Schooner Bar! The staff, especially Isaac from Spain, ensured that we all had a great time with trivia games, etc. The wait staff were very accommodating and did a great job. We love the Schooner Bar!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the activities that we participated in. Minor comment: soccer ball missing from sports deck.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the shows and had a great time with the smaller events/games at the Schooner Bar (see above). Nothing you can do about this, but our enthusiasm for the shows were dampened by rude, obnoxious other cruisers (talking, etc during the shows).

Children's Programs

Our son did not do any of the kid-specific activities.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff were great - when we did run into snafus (e.g. see above with drink orders), they were very accommodating and tried to address the situation.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very clean and well maintained. Generally, the layout and design were good. The ship does seem a bit dated (carpets, etc). One suggestion in terms of layout: we were trying to book an excursion one evening while there was a DJ set up right next to the desk, which made it very difficult to hear/communicate with the excursion staff.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was very clean - the crew did a great job cleaning and maintaining the cabin. However, the cabin was quite small (difficult for two adults to unpack/stow luggage) and also seemed a bit past its prime in terms of decor.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

Just drove in/out, did not spend time at the port.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

5 out of 5
Best part of the cruise, snorkeling was awesome!

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We had planned to do an excursion for more snorkeling, but the operator canceled it, so we explored Nassau. We were a bit pressed for time to make it back to the ship by 1:30 pm, but generally had a good time exploring the public beaches and the local color.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation was reasonably well organized.
