Review summary

Overall the cruise was good. I was concerned when I heard some comments from several guests that they were disappointed with MOS as compared to Carnival. I have never sailed Carnival and always thought Royal Caribbean was highly rated. Now I am not sure. We were disappointed with missing the Cococay layover due to weather, but understand the safety aspects of this. This was our first Royal Caribbean cruise, and I found all the up-selling in the process a bit troubling. Had I know what was included, I might not have purchased the coffee package. I purchased it in advance, but was unable to use it for the first 24 hours for some reason. The ship definitely needs some updating. The seats in the auditorium were very uncomfortable.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We arrived early to beat the crowd, and even though this was our first Royal Caribbean cruise we were able to board in a reasonable time frame.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was great, but as usual with buffets, people tend to be pushy and sloppy when serving themselves. We had a guy literally throw his plate from several feet away to grab a table ahead of us.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was great. There was some confusion about the coffee package we purchased which took a while to get sorted out. Got some conflicting direction on this from several crew members.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was smaller than what I expected, but my only comparison is from sailing with Disney.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We did not do an excursion, but the shopping experience was good.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

1 out of 5
Due to weather, we were unable to visit Cococay. That was a disappointment, but understand the safety issues and concerns.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Good experience because we got in line very early.

We loved Navigator! Hope you do also.

We were on Majesty last Feb. We had a really good time, but opted for a larger ship this time. We sail on Navigator Feb 20th. I totally agree with you on the seating in the auditorium, we felt like we were slidding out of the seats.

All cruiselines are trying to sell you stuff all the time, it isn't just Royal Caribbean. Too bad you were on one of the older small ships. Royal Caribbean a good cruiseline and you need to try one of their larger ships. They have a lot of things to do on the larger ships.

Majesty is their oldest ship. Try not to judge the line based on that ship. Very unfortunate that you missed Cococay, I hear they are in process of building a dock to alleviate the problem of missing this port so often. Up selling has become part of the experience in many cases. Just be prepared for it and politely say no thank you. I wish you many happier sailings in the future!
