Review summary

For a first time. I was pleased. The boat was extremely rocky after Day 2, several of us were seasick. The boat is noticeably smaller in the fleet and in comparison to other cruise lines. Several things had changed since my friends had been on the same boat, for the worse. A variety of music and activities would have encourage my participation and an onboard credit when the 2nd port was cancelled. I will cruise again. Possibly with RC, maybe through another line, for longer days for more ports, and research activities on boat.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Having never been on a ship before, I was really impressed upon embarking on the boat. Everything was very secure. The process was fairly easy and went fast. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. I did not care for the swarm of workers at the door fast talking and trying to sell drink packages. It was overwhelming. A sign "Drink Packages Here" would suffice.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Loved the main dining experience. Jay our waiter was excellent, took wonderful care of our table, knew us by first name, and even played and sang his guitar! He made the experience wonderful and I always anticipated dinner. The buffet for breakfast was great, great selection. Didn't eat lunch much. Dinner served on buffet was best Day 3, offered best selections, enjoyed over the dining food.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Played bingo, participated in store events, not much variety. Everyday same events. When the weather was inclement, it would have been nice to get an onboard credit as passengers could not port at Coco Cay and were stuck on the boat which was very rocky and the wind was treacherous. B/c I didn't want to bear the expense of having to stay on the ship, I participated less.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Shows were ok. Lionel was best. Karoake in several bars took up night club time. Music was same throughout day, and all three nights. No variety, only 1 night club scene. An older club scene would have been nice.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Definitely service oriented in all areas of the boat. We certainly appreciated Luis on Deck 4. And Jay our waiter at dinner.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Nothing to compare, but overall, but was clean and layout was easy to navigate.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Paid $60 additional for a window and other cabins without a window were not only cheaper but bigger. Would not upgrade to window again. Cabin was clean. Toilet was little tricky. Didn't flush some times.

Ship tip

Get the compass the first day to see activities. Ours came late on the first day and we had missed several activities/raffles. Check dinner schedules. Buy drink package before hand. Schedule longer than a 3 day cruise. Only ported 1 of 2 places. Made trip not as interesting b/c stuck on ship due to storm. Having another day and possible other port would have helped.

Why did you let the opinion of your friend form the basis for your review? Your friend should have given their opinion, & NOT you, b/c you were not there on that cruise. Your feelings should be based on YOUR opinion, which are based on YOUR cruise experience. Nobody can do anything about the weather, SO DON'T blame the ship, the crew, or Royal Caribbean, for the change of itenary. That is covered in your contract with R.C. As for selling the drink packages, that is how they make money. It is only a small group, & you can easily ignore them, & make your way to other parts of the ship.
