I was very impressed with the cruise adventure. I felt very spoiled - which is the point. I will know what to do next time to prepare myself better.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
would have liked a cruise overview - maybe I missed it? I found the daily itineraries at customer service on the 3rd day.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
I can only speak for the breakfast buffets and main dining rooms (and pool bars)..... excellent. Great variety of food for breakfast and lunches. Fellow cruisers could have been more polite because of the different lines for the food bars and you didn't really know what food was available until you walked around the whole place to see for yourself. The dinners were fantastic; would have liked more variety of fish - always salmon. Pina Colata's were absolutely wonderful.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Pool time was crowded and too many little ones in the adult pool for my taste. Pool side was nice but areas around pool were taken. Would have liked another pool....
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Kivi (comedian) was fantastic - attended two shows and he hit the mark. Belly flop contest was lame - we were not at a frat party..... pool games would have been better. DJ and music were jamming, though and the band was the right touch. I guess you have to appeal to all types of audiences.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Staff was good overall. The bartenders are typical bartenders - ignore you until they're ready - most not real friendly; some were - but they fixed a mean drink! Wait staff showed everyone up and set the bar high for service. Ship personnel were very friendly and helpful.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
I didn't really know what to expect, but it would have been a nice to have more signage about the activities and areas to explore around the events and entertainment. Overall clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Tight quarters for 3 guests. Room is for 4 and glad we didn't have a fourth person. I knew it would be tight, but just thankful we weren't in the room a lot. Bunks were comfortable enough - loved the heavy sheet/blankets and the pillows were nice. Cabin clean. There's just not a whole lot of places to store luggage, hanging area for clothing, bathroom area. Was challenging.
Ship tip
Purchase the drink ticket; glad I did. I'm not a lush by any means, but after you have Starbucks in the morning, a few sodas or drinks throughout the day and evening, you have paid for the ticket. I think I would tip differently - instead of tipping on the ticket, I think taking cash would be a better option - you know what you're spending then. Go to the customer service area and get the ship layout - study it and tour the ship first. Plan your day to explore what you want to explore.
Get excursions ahead. I wanted to do the snorkeling but they were already 'sold out' when I got there. Bummer - but I did the glass bottom boat trip and was thrilled with the experience. Although it was long, it was informative and had a great time overall. Back on the island, the beaches were really nice and lots of areas and things to do. Enjoyed it immensely.
Went to Atlantis and highly recommend it. Need to go back so I can do other things because you can spend all your time there - you just don't get to do other things. You have to prioritize. I did purchase ahead the dolphin adventure and it was everything I thought it may be and more. It was amazing. Even though we had basically all day there, we were rushed to get back to the ship so we didn't get to 'explore Nassau'.
OMG - where are the luggage carts?????? Someone get luggage carts to the guests! We chose to disembark ourselves, and that's what you get - carry all your own luggage a very long way - in long lines. It was miserable but self inflicted. We could have let them get our luggage like an airplane but I'm not leaving my luggage outside my room the night before and didn't want to wait till late afternoon to leave.
Consider it a practice cruise. Practice makes perfect. Longer cruises, like 7 nights, often are even better. Now you know how it works, research ships before your next booking, there are many different ship plans each with pros and cons. Same with itineraries. Consider all cruise lines too, you will eventually find ship and cruise line that works best for you, but exploring different cruises is part of the adventure. Consider Alaska too, awesome in its own unique way.
