Review summary

Service was top of its class, the activities were plentiful and the main evening dining area was actually quite nice. Otherwise get ready to get nickel and dimed for EVERTYTHING!! Remember there is a per day per guest gratuity charge ( which is not mentioned upon booking).

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Pretty straightforward, just like going to the airport.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dinner was excellent quality and very refined, the service was amazing. However there are not that many options with regards to anything else. There was one main buffet, some crappy pizza, and a barely existent deli. Soda is an extra (drink package, and it drastically increases in price from there if you want specialty coffee drinks and alcohol. It easily turned a $400 cruise to a $700 cruise just with drink packages.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
For the most part activities were good, the people were very entertaining. There was usually always something to do.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Most of the shows were entertaining although primarily cater to an older audience, i found myself dosing off sometimes.

Children's Programs

I don't have children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was by far the main reason i would ever consider cruising with Royal Caribbean again. On the Majesty of the Seas, Daniel(Server's assistant), Lobo(server) and Dane (statesroom attendant) truly made the stay special. They truly make you feel weclomed.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Took a while to understand where everything was but once you knew it was easy to navigate. Cleanliness was okay , saw weird stuff that looked like gray dust coming out of the light fixture in the shower. You can tell that the ship is aging.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
small, but for the most part comfy. If going with 3 people make sure you have a short person to use the bunk bet and watch your head as i hit myself multiple times with the metal.

Ship tip

Prepare to drink lemonade or a lot of fake juices unless you plan on buying a drink package.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Straight forward

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

2 out of 5
Hot, the water is murky. They nickel and dime you for parasols and seats with parasols. The water was murkier than expected. Otherwise its a private island with a large beach. They did have a pretty good BBQ though.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Eh, not really all that great. The locals are nice when you are buying overpriced items from them. Never take a price as is , always low ball them as they will either meet you in the middle or just walk down to a vendor who is willling to work with you.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Straightforward.

yeah every Cruise Line has gratuities that are charged you everyday

csnewport    7 years ago

Gratuity charges were mentioned several times upon booking and months afterwards.

the gratuity is mentioned in my booking and I can see it in my cruise manager online. I plan to prepay before we leave

pelletman    7 years ago

you can pre pay their gratuity if you want

Interesting they didn't mention the gratuity charge when you booked. I've booked on a number of cruise lines and they all mention it since almost all cruise lines have daily gratuity charges.
