Review summary
THIS CRUISE WAS UNFORTUNATELY THE WORST OUT OF 5 CRUISES I'VE EVER BEEN ON! Because of the Coast guards random inspection the life vests on the life boats were out of code as well as there being other technical problems with the ship, therefore we were unable to set sail the first day and had to stay the night at the port until everything was fixed-which happened the next following evening.
As a result of the delay we weren't able to port in Coco Cay, and we only went to Nassau. We were refunded just 25% of our booking cost, which was given back in the form of onboard credit, and we were given 25% off our future cruise with Royal Caribbean (that WILL NEVER happen!). The ship was very old & not a lot of activities onboard.
Like everything in life, my husband and I managed to make good of a bad situation. Royal Caribbean cruise line is not the one for us; we will be happy to go back to Norwegian free style cruise line.

@lynniejean - yes exactly!! The same ppl saying the compensations we were offered would have sufficed, I'm sure would be the same ones throwing the biggest fits if they were actually on the cruise & didn't get their monies worth in the experience.
RCCL can keep the 25% because they need it more than I do obviously.

@CrusinTim - I "failed to mention FREE alcohol" because We don't drink so that "incentive" was obviously pointless to me. The 25% off was NOT $200, and basically went to cover the gratuities, Lastly, had we left at our scheduled time on Mon we would have made Coco Cay on Tues as planned, needless to say the weather became the problem because we did not arrive on the originally scheduled day.
Hurt me once shame on you, hurt me twice shame on me....You can have the 25%, because I won't be the fool to re-book with them. Good luck with your future sailings! : )

The refund should have been credited to a credit card, not OBC. Although, it probably covered the autograts. Think about this though....they lost one day. What if they had lost two, or even three ? Let's go with two. Suppose the ship was forced to stay in port for two days. What does RCCL do ? Give a 50% refund in the form of OBC ? Assuming a$800/pp cruise, that would be a $400 / pp credit. But, who wants to take a 2 day cruise ? And where would it go ? Oh, btw, the reason the ship skipped Coco cay and went to Nassau, is because a ship must stop at a foreign port. Has to do with the Jones act. Coco cay does not satisfy that requirement, as the island is owned by RCCL. So, the ship would have gone to Nassau anyway, docked for a couple of hours, and then sailed for home.
This was all the result of someone not doing their job. Either that, or I suspect the ship might be soon sold off and the company didn't see fit to put any money into it. NCL is getting ready to sell a couple of their older or smaller ships, such as the Dawn and Spirit.

"DON'T CRUISE WITH THEM"! Well, I have sailed with RCI 3 times out of 13 cruises and had a great time every sailing. We've had such great times with RCI that we rebooked our sailing on the Oasis of the Seas for this May. It is the first time we have ever booked twice on the same ship. Your experience is unfortunate but to get 25% OBC (I figure that to be at least $200) and an additional 25% off a future sailing is more than sufficient. But that is my opinion. You also failed to mention the FREE alcohol they offered AND the reason you missed Coco Cay was due to weather. I think you should stay open-minded regarding RCI for your future cruise plans. If you are decidedly against ever sailing with RCI again, can I have that 25% discount?
