Review summary

This is the worst vacation i have ever taken, It was a nightmare that I will never forget. The ship is so old and smells so bad. They should be embarrassed that they sell this to people who spend their hard earned money. The food is low quality and disgusting. The service is ok as they are robots and do and say every thing their boss tells them to like a recording. EVERYTHING costs money and is terribly expensive. They look us in the middle of the ocean close to the HURRICANE CAT 4. The ship was rocking back and forth and we didn't sleep for 3 nights. They kept telling us everything is normal and we will be heading to the Bahamas normally (even though we are not stupid and knew there was a hurricane there). They DECEIVED us and left us at sea till Sunday ( day 3 of the cruise). Saturday they were supposed to go to coco kay but instead left us at sea. They are too cheap to take us to mexico or anywhere else because it will cost them money. THIS CRUISE IS ALL ABOUT MONEY THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE AT ALL. I saved for so many years to go on a vacation after 10 years of not taking one and this is what i get. I am so disappointed and upset I cant even put it into words. The whole cruise the ship was rocking and we did not know if we would get home alive. The ship is dirty and old. very smelly. I read the bad reviews here but i did not belive them. I MADE A BIG MISTAKE. The shows were a horrible excuse for entertainment. They really went down in all areas.

Not mean. I have never cruised to the Caribbean, but even I know when hurricane season is and I would never book a cruise during that time. Too many what ifs. And not spending money. Whatever type of vacation one takes, a person is going to spend money. I don't know how you could not. I guess if I didn't spend extra money on vacations, I could take more of them.

sarahtarah    9 years ago

Um....there is clearly a cruise offered. There are clearly people going during hurricane season. It's offered. I don't know if this person didn't realize it or what but no reason to be mean

nessabee0406    9 years ago

Why would you travel during hurricane season??? Whether traveling by train, plane or bus there is always gonna be some type of diversion or delay when it comes to vicious. Would you be mad if the flight was cancelled and there were no other flights heading to Miami due to hurricanes and you missed the cruise altogether ??? Just don't travel during hurricane season. It may be better for you.

sarahtarah    9 years ago

Yes. We all clearly know she's wrong. And doesn't know much about cruising. But no need to be mean about replying and educating her. That's all.

dcaland2001    9 years ago

The reason we say what we do is because the original reviewer had absolutely nothing to say that was nice. If they take the chance and cruise during hurricane season then things can happen and the cruise line has no control over it. Don't cruise in hurricane season. Also I wonder what they thought, that they would never spend a dime on anything. I guess you could do that. No excursions, no souvenirs, no pictures. Don't want to spend money don't go anywhere.

Idk why everyone is attacking a reviewer. These are their opinions. Jeez.

I think it very rude to condemn a ship through your own stupidity, cruise after November...

I'd love to know what you didnt like via the entertainment. those 12 young adults have been working their butts off since April to perform good, solid shows every single week. They spend 4-6 weeks of 12 hour rehearsal days learning every intricate dance moves, steps and music notes before they even step foot on a ship. they work hard, are away from their families for 6-8 months maybe even a year at a time. How dare you be so cruel in your rating of them?? What expertise do you have that gives you the right to judge them so harshly?? Furthermore, yes the ship was rocking due to high seas but being seasick would be the least of my worries if my ship was simply trying to stay out of a devestating storms path. Everyone in the US knew that hurricane was coming longgg before it reached the Bahamas, if you were sooo concerned about it ruining your cruise, did you maybe consider canceling? Why didn't you cancel?? Now, I know for a fact Majesty only travels Mon - Fri and then Fri-Mon. ....so you knew ahead of time that there was a hurricane threat. It wasn't as though you were out to sea for 14 days, out of touch with reality and then bombarded by this storm....EVERYONE knew it was headed directly for the Bahamas! Dont blame RCCL or the everso hard working, exhausted employees for your lack diligence.

Never go during hurricane season. A lot of ships were diverted whether it was the Bahamas or Mexico.

We've been on the Majesty many times and always had a great time. Thought the shows were good food could be a bit better. The steakhouse is fantastic. We've had days where our ship was in high seas where the pool deck was closed and also times you were not permitted outside on the decks. Take a Bonnie supplied by the front desk and enjoy. RC cannot control the weather or change ports on a whim. It is what you make it. We cruise once a month since we live in Florida, so we've seen all kinds of weather. Still had fun

It is more expensive during holidays and July and August. Other times are cheaper but it pays to research the hurricane season for the time and area that you are considering travelling. It does also say on the website and on your cruise contract that the itinerary may change. Sad to hear you didn't have a great time.

Personally i like cruises in January

terry115    9 years ago

yes thjs I know some people like to spend time with families an it is the only time they can do it

lenny1119    9 years ago

no not cheaper during the summer.

terry115    9 years ago

Are they really cheaper during the summer?

dcaland2001    9 years ago

What adjustments do you want msmbrazil? Refund the amount of the cruise. Call each and every cruiser and remind them they are cruising during hurricane season? They do make adjustments. It just sounds like cruising may not be for you. If you can't handle changes in itineraries, than cruising can't be your thing. I will also point out that when you fly, there is a chance the flight will be delayed, canceled or diverted to a different airport. And that can happen any day of the year! Try going with the flow if you want to continue cruising.

lenny1119    9 years ago

@dcaland2001 exactly. also they had to think of the devastation because things were destroyed and people lost valuable items

msmbrazil    9 years ago

We know it's hurricane season, but the season runs sooo long you never know what to expect! if guests are inconvenienced, adjustments should be made by the cruiseline...period!

dcaland2001    9 years ago

It seems like everyone that is complaining about missed ports due to hurricanes didn't do their homework. I guess all they see is a cheaper cruise and book it, regardless that it is hurricane season. I have not cruised the Caribbean, but even I know it is hurricane season. I wouldn't take the chance and book a cruise at this time. I'll pay more and hopefully avoid the problem. Even still, when I do take a cruise, I understand there are many factors that can change a cruise itinerary. I would rather stay safe and enjoy the fact that I am on vacation

lenny1119    9 years ago

I am so sorry that you experience that on your cruise, but when you are being cheap and decide to book a cruise during hurricane season these are the potential circumstances that you could run into. if this is your last cruise sorry but if you do plan to book another cruise definitely make it in January through August. But to rate the ship how you did is unfair. Majesty was actually my first cruise and had a great time. we chose to the January and actually have had no problems in that month. I am actually going on NCL escape in January.

We cruised on Oct 2-5, and in all honesty if RC did not want to cancel the cruise due to the hurricanes, they should start to consider reimbursements! We were also over 24 hours at sea, and my whole group (ages 6-63) experienced sea sickness...we ended up skipping Cococay, but the stop in Nassau was absolutely amazing!!! RC has some making up to do...but being my 1st cruise, I'd give them 3.5 out of 5!

ang06062    9 years ago

I just came back from Majesty the end of July and had an amazing time! Glad I didn't wait until hurricane season to book.

Adventourist2    9 years ago

Booking a cruise from July to Oct you run the risk of hurricanes. If you wanted great weather and smooth sailing try April

"They are too cheap to take us to mexico or anywhere else because it will cost them money.". There is more to just going to another port. Especially when there is hurricane in the area. But a cruise ship can not just pull into another port like they are parking a car in a lot! Advance notice and availability are required for a ship to visit another port. The port must have dockworkers and pilots at the ready and resupply for the ship must be arranged. Not to mention space. Would there be a dock available there? Even IF they had changed the itinerary prior to your boarding, there were other ships already scheduled to be in Mexican ports.

dcaland2001    9 years ago

I guess I will be lucky and never meet you on a cruise. Doesn't sound like you will never do another one. Too bad. Cruising is the best. So many places to see in the world and a cruise will take you there, feed you and house you.
