Review summary

The only good thing on this cruise is the nice staff, ok ports and good food. I liked how they decorated their food. It was my first and last time with Holland America line. I will never travel again. It was a boring cruise. Many other passengers complained of nothing to do on the ship. Princess cruise is still better even though they have a older clientele the entertainment and the cruise director were way better. The cruise director on this ship does not even acknowledge the passengers. No wonder the entertainment and activities suck. The ship looked haunted and deserted after 8pm. I would not even recommend for families or groups traveling together. Be prepared to enter a ship that is gloomy with a touch of culinary flair. My advice for first time Holland America line cruisers do not even bother.

The female bar manager (Anne Marie Garcia) on this ship was to personal and manipulating. l I had to file a complaint. The Bar hop that she conducted was a rip off. She will also try to pressure you to join her for dinner so she can charge your onboard account. Luckily I got my money back and filed a huge complaint. Their manager should not allow this type of stupid childish behavior. Very unprofessional. Should be fired. The cabin steward was excellent and most of the crew in the buffet and dining room were courteous and hardworking.

Ship tip

Expect to go to bed early and be bored. Not a ship for solo travelers or anyone looking for a party cruise.

Horrible service The people were rude and not very service oriented. Taking a flight back to the US was not smooth.
