Review summary

As mentioned earlier, this cruise was disappointing. Holland America has changed considerably and I would rank it equal to Royal Caribbean and a step above Carnival. It is not a luxury cruise. People not dressing for gala nights, dining room food just ok. No traditional presentations of food (baked alaska), no dutch hat nights and it was hard to get to know the crew (other than the cabin steward).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Main dining room food was not up to par. Lido deck options were varied.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Bingo, Thermal Spa and Spa appointments. Team Trivia. There didn't seem to be a lot of variety in activities.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin size was good. People in cabins near ours were smoking cigars and the smell carried over. .

Ship tip

This is not the luxury cruise line of old. They are just above par from where they once were.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Hmmm, after googling to find exactly what "Dutch hat night" was - I think I see why it was taken off the program

Sorry your cruise line of choice has eased some of their standards. HAL has had a loyal group of cruisers filling their cabins. Are you going to try a different ship in their fleet?
