Review summary

This was a fun cruise with lots of ports.  Unfortunately the weather had changed and we had some very cold and windy days.  Montreal and Quebec offered the most to do and see.  I would recommend going a few days before the cruise to make the most of Montreal..

Its always hard to judge when the fall leaves wil be just right, I think the week before I went the colors were probably at their best.  I heard from several of the Canadians the weather was MUCH better,  Most of the fall color was gone in Canada, but Bar Harbor was in full color with all her gorgeous maple leaves..

Holland America always does a good job catering to its older passengers.  The Indonesian crew is ALWAYS smiling and happy to assist.  Food is good and well presented.

Only drawback was the loading and unloading of the cruise tour buses.   Getting 60 elderly people on and off buses takes time.  Think most places could be walked or discovered by taxi.

I would definitely recommend this cruise

5 out of 5
Outstanding Indonesian crew from the wait staff to the room stewards

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
For the agee of ship, she was in good shape. Clean and well maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Big enough for 2 widows to share. We had the room steward remove the small table and the room was suddenly "bigger"

Ship tip

On port/tour days its much faster to eat on the Lido deck than wait in dining room for fine dining

Ports of call

Montreal, Quebec

5 out of 5
Great city, takes more than one day. I would recommend the Grayline tour of the city done before cruise, then can prowl on own. Must see Cathedral

Cruise St. Lawrence River

5 out of 5
Smooth ride with lovely views of the small towns along the river.

Quebec City, Quebec

5 out of 5
What a fantastic city. Take the walking tour and a coach ride and see it all. Lots of artists for moimentos of your trip

Cruise Saguenay Fjord

5 out of 5
The color was good but just a bit too late due to wind and rain

Ville Saguenay, Quebec

Watch for whales

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Lots to do here and plenty to see. Have a lobster lunch

Sydney, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
Too bad it was pouring rain. Took in a nice little museum and they served "oat cakes and tea"

Halifax, Nova Scotia

So many choices of tours. Took the one to Peggys Cove and the Titanic cemetary. The cemetary was very interesting. Peggy's cove though scenic has nothing else. Thin one could hire a taxi and hit several places rather than wait for 60 people to climb on ond off bus.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
SUnshine and blue sky and lobster rolls...Yippee. Beautiful fall foliage and a charming town to walk.

New York, New York

5 out of 5
Should have stayed later. We were there for 8-5 and its just not long enough. Take the hop on--hop off bus tour. With more time could have attended an afternoon matinee at one of the famous theaters. Be sure to go to "Ground Zero" the Freedom tower is now up and they are working on the surrounding park
