Review summary
This trip aboard Liberty of the Seas was my fifth time cruising with Royal. I have always enjoyed cruises, but there were several improvement opportunities this time. First was the main dining room for our traditional 7:45 seating. We were at our table for over an hour the first night before we received our appetizers. Our dinner took over 2 hours to get all our courses. We thought it was because it was the first night, but the second night, while it felt like the courses were coming at a reasonable rate, it still took 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete our meal. We did the buffet for the rest of the cruise because it was quicker. The second issue was when we were in CoCo Cay. We opted for the Hideaway to get away from the children on the ship and prepaid for two floats to use in the ocean. The Hideaway was tremendous and gave us a much-needed break from the children on the boat. When it came to the floats, there was no place to get them in the Hideaway, making that a waste of $20. During my previous cruises, the ships were usually kept cool to make the passengers comfortable. However, on my recent cruise, the casino had zero air flow, making it unbearable on some nights. We even tried to adjust our cabin thermostat to the maximum and requested a fan, but we still woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat, as the temperature in the cabin wouldn't get lower than 78°F. Lastly, I am disappointed to see no enforcement of the dress codes in the dining room. It is upsetting to see the diminishment of the formal night. The dress code served a purpose, and the formal night accented it as an exceptional dining experience. If I wanted to go to a nice restaurant and see someone wearing a fishnet over their private garments, I could go to a restaurant in my town—not by paying thousands to see it in your main dining room.Embarkation
