Review summary

If RC ever lets formal dining room service and food drop in quality or if housekeeping falls down on their job, I'll stop cruising with RC. My reason for using RC is not to visit the ports, but to relax on board and be serve 5 star meals and have clean and comfortable lodging quarters.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining room service and food was outstanding, I found no need to visit specialty resturants

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Ship is well equiped but since I was on vacation I limited myself to walking on their track.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Some shows were better than others; I did not care for most of the comedians and their distasteful jokes. Only one was G rated and he was funny.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Makara gives attention to detail and is most deserving of recognition. Ronald Bustarde our stateroom attendant was outstaanding. He went out of way to make us feel comfortable. Bernard (waiter) is a good listener and sought to take action to make problems with our excursion be elevated and addressed for proper attention and correctness.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I hate walking through the casino full of cigarette smoke but you can either go up or down a level to get to other end of ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I liked the hot water and shower stall seems to be bigger this time. While inside cabins may be small for some travelers we found this one to be comfortable and noise free.

Ship tip

Ship repeats same couple of itineraries ( I didn't even bother getting off ship in Cozumel) visiting Cozumel almost everytime.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
easy to park, customs was a little slower this time, I was looking forward to getting back home so we left as soon as we got off the ship.

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

I've been there multiple times. Same-o-same-o stuff.

George Town, Grand Cayman

1 out of 5
Had a terrible excursion, (GCP6) The Best of West Cayman was a waste of time, over priced, sites were overrated, driver pushed purchasing rum cakes, processing starting under the Red Tent was disorganized, could not find bus for our group. Avoid at all cost, use a taxi and go at your own pace. Small island, layed back, recommen hiring a taxi for tour. Forget booking tour with RC.

Falmouth, Jamaica

1 out of 5
Friends went out side the "duty free zone" and were hastled by everyone they met trying to sell them something or asking for money. Other couple used taxi and had better experience. Island is very poor, and unless you know what you want to see, stay "in free zone" or onboard ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very organized on the ship, no problems, Homeland Security process was a bit slow.

Thank you for your review My only experience with RCL in the past few years was 4 night out of Port Canaveral in September I was not impressed with the entertainment in the main auditorium and we went to the all their shows there. Never made it to the aft portion of the ship. Also we ate at 5:30 every night in anytime dining. Same table next to same couple each night which we all enjoyed and had great conversations each night. We ate plenty and loved the deserts. Compared with Caribbean Princess 3 months earlier Princess food snd selection at every meal had more variety and Princess food had much better taste. Also comparing the upstairs buffet between Princess and RCL, Princess won hands down in variety and taste. RCL was OK but I did have something recent to compare with. Sooooo looking forward to our 7 day out of Port Everglades on the Regal Princess on January 5th We will drive from Newnan to Ft Lauderdale the day before and spend the night in Ft Lauderdale The Mariner of the Sea was Helen's FIRST EVER CRUISE. So she is so excited about this next cruise and I have a suite with tub and balcony and plan on SPOILING HER ROTTEN the entire trip with many surprises. I know I talk to much Don & Helen
