Review summary

This was our first experience with Royal Caribbean but this was our fourth cruise and my favorite by far. The ship is well designed and I love the Promenade on the 5th floor. There is so much to do on the ship and also so many places to find a quiet place to read. Carnival has a “party like it’s your last day on earth” vibe and my experience with Liberty was “let’s relax and have fun” vibe. This fit our family perfectly.

Very smooth... arrived at 11:30 and eating lunch in the Windjammer by 12 pm.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main Dining was excellent. The staff was the best I experienced. It truly felt like we were part of the RC family. FYI: They have a new Vegan menu that all the waiters are not aware of. It was a bit difficult with my time dining because we weren’t sure who are waiter would be the next day. You have to order from the menu the night before. We took a pic of it and showed our waiter the next day if he/she was confused. Windjammer had great food and some not so great food. I always found something I loved. My husband is plant based and loved the soy burgers (you have to request it in the burger/hot dog line).

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did it all. The ice skating is great and the rock climbing is awesome. Loved the water slides but never had the courage to try the Flow rider but we loved cheering for others.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I noticed the amount of real talent the performers have onboard the Liberty of the seas. We enjoyed the Reggae band , the shows we went to, the comedians and the entertaining interactive games hosted by the cruise director.

Children's Programs

The kids loved it. Wasn’t as personal as I would have liked but overall, very good.

Perfect location! Only issue was the bed. There was a large indentation that was very uncomfortable to sleep on.

Ship tip

Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. My husband didn’t like to ask for certain foods that weren’t readily available but once he did, the staff was eager to make sure he had what he needed from then on.

Ports of call

Falmouth, Jamaica

We did the Thrill seeker adventure with food and a complimentary bar at the Good Hope plantation. It was wonderful. We went ziplining, ATV riding in some rocky terrain, river rafting and much more. It was amazing.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We didn’t get a RC excursion. Rented mopeds and rode around, stopping at our favorite beaches. Cozumel is my favorite port because there is so much to do.

George Town, Grand Cayman

We went with the Nautilus 1/2 submarine and then snorkel excursion. It was awesome! After seeing two wrecked ships, we went to the top deck and went snorkeling in a beautiful coral reef. Wonderful experience.

Disembarkation

Not Royals fault. Customs shut down for a period and there were some very cranky people online to exit the ship. Didn’t leave Galveston until after 12 pm.
