Review summary

I would recommend Liberty of the Seas to anyone! Especially first time cruisers! Great ship and activities for an even better price!

Embarkation

Didn’t take long to get on the ship at all. We got to the terminal early and had to wait, but it was worth it when we got onboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room and the Windjammer were always good. The highlight of the trip was Johnny Rockets! Chops Grille didn’t really impress me for the price, don’t get me wrong, the food was good, I’ve just had the same experience and better food for lesser prices.

Chop's Grille

3 out of 5

The experience was okay and so was the food. My only thing is I expected to have amazing food. I’ve had better food on land restaurants that didn’t cost half as much. So I guess I’m not really a specialty restaurant person.

Sorrento's Pizza

5 out of 5

Hey you want some pizza? It’s free! Anytime we wanted a slice we went. Made for a great snake or dinner.

Café Promenade

5 out of 5

Great place to go to grab a quick bite to eat

Johnny Rockets

5 out of 5

One of the best parts of LOS! You can order as much food as you want for the same price. Milkshakes do cost extra but if you got the drink package that includes everything or everything but alcohol you don’t pay extra for it. Great food and some of the best waitering on the ship.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

I was expecting lower quality at the buffet but the food was just as good anywhere else and you don’t have to pay for it. This was a staple of our cruise.

Main Dining Room

4 out of 5

Was a nice experience, and the food was good. Try the escargot!

Cupcake Cupboard

The food I had was good!

Ben and Jerry's

4 out of 5

If your craving ice cream this is the place to go!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were fun, until someone puked in one. (It got cleaned up really quick). The water slides were a blast. Tons of activities like dodge ball and basketball tournaments.

Center Ice Rink

5 out of 5

The show we saw was awesome. We didn’t get to go ice skating but hey, who would have thought a cruise ship would have an ice rink!

Logo Souvenir Shop

4 out of 5

As to be expected I knew prices would be a little higher which was okay. I wish they had a little better shirt selection.

Photo Gallery and Shop

2 out of 5

The venue itself is great, but the price of one picture is a little ridiculous.

Liberty Dunes

3 out of 5

Was fun but it needs updating pretty bad

Casino Royale

4 out of 5

Some machines seemed pretty old while some were new. Had fun, just wish I won.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Saw all of the shows and they were fun, so don’t not go!

Platinum Theater

5 out of 5

Who knew that a theater on a ship could be this big? It was also very beautiful and the seats were comfortable. If your going to a show and depending on how hyped it is you might want to get there 30 minutes to an hour before to get a good seat.

Promenade

5 out of 5

You want something to do because you got sunburned? Plenty to do here!

Studio B

5 out of 5

This is where the ice rink was, fun place!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room attendant was great! We had a small leaking issue in our bathroom from the shower and when we told him he got right on it and it was fixed the next time we used it. Waiters were on point. However, the first night onboard we dined in the main dining room and our group really didn’t have time to change into better clothes and I felt the waiter judged us for it.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was always clean. The design is starting to feel a smidge outdated but it is a beautiful ship!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was on the smaller side but we were to busy doing all of the fun activities to be spending time there

Ship tip

Don’t be afraid to get out and meet new people! Also interior rooms that look out over the promenade are great deals and you get a view!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

We went to Pleasure Pier and had some fun, was kind of weird you had to pay for the rides individually but it was still a fun time

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We went to Maya Key and this was my favorite port! The water was so clear you could see a reef right next to the port. The excursion was great too! Relaxing on the beach and playing with monkeys was awesome!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
The walk to the port was the only real downside of this port. The shops were nice, but a piece of advice that I learned here: unless you like being called into shops don’t wear sports gear. I’m a huge Oklahoma Sooners fan and they always said, “Boomer Sooner come on in here,” or “Sooner guy look what I have.” So unless you like that I would advise no sports gear. We did the Mayan Kingdom excursion and it was fun but the weight limits on the rides aren’t what Royal put on their website. Not that it was an issue for us but seeing some people being turned away was disheartening. I know it’s for safety but it should be better posted.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
When we were at port so we’re 7 other ships, so it was busy but the port had a lot of shops. We went to Mr. Sancho’s Beach Club and it was a lot of fun. All the food and drink (even alcohol) was included in the price. The activities were fun, most cost just a deposit and you get it back.

Disembarkation

I have nothing to compare it to so it was good. Seemed to take awhile but I was expecting that.
