Review summary

The cruise was okay. I have sailed on Royal Caribbean for years and have seen the quality of the service and the value go down. What used to be free is no longer free (such as breakfast in your room which is now $7.95). Royal Caribbean used to cater to adults and there used to be very few children on the cruise which I liked. This has changed and now there are a lot of children on the ship. Soon they will be like Carnival cruise lines and I will have to find another cruise line.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was easy to do.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was only average at best. The only exception was the Sabor restaurant. The food there was very good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Went to the pool, the casino

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The DJ in the disco was not interested in playing music that the people wanted to hear.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The service in the main dining was less than average. It was hard to get service, such as water glasses filled, condiments delivered or second cups of coffee. My room steward was excellent.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The shops were okay but the days of good prices are long gone. Most everything in them was overpriced. (I'm not sure about the liquor store.)

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The bed was terrible. It was hard as rock. Other people had the same complaint. My room steward did the best she could.

Ship tip

Don't buy jewelry on the ship. It is way overpriced.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Boarded the ship here.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

This is a poor island. I took a tour but the tour was really a waste of time.

Belize City, Belize

This port is okay.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Had fun here but it's expensive. I paid $24 for a shrimp cocktail.

Disembarkation

I was scheduled off last but was let go early.

Have to agree about the hard beds. Read a post on CC several years ago comparing the mattresses to Fred Flintstone's bed. 😅

The time of year you cruise and ship itself has a big impact on how many kids could be on board. Big amusement park style ships are designed to cater to families. Smaller older ships are less kid friendly.

I did find some decent, actually delicious items in the MDR. Agree DJ was pretty sorry. He would play 3 seconds of songs that people might want to hear and then jump to crap. He was worst Royal DJ I have come across. If so inclined you may want to try Oasis class Sailings from Lauderdale or Miami. Much more lively

Try msc or Viking then
