This was my first Royal Caribbean. I have sailed twice with Carnival. I was a bit concerned with how I would like the differences. I discovered that both are fun cruise lines. They each offer a very different experience. Royal Caribbean is much more elegant and relaxed. Carnival keeps a higher energy and everything is concentrated on just having a good time.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was surprisingly efficient.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was excellent. Windjammer could get super crowded, but that is to be expected.
Onboard Activities

Entertainment
5 out of 5
The only negative I found was with the DJs. They left a bit to be desired.
Children's Programs
My child did not participate. He is 12 and felt in between the age groups.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward and any ship personnel went above and beyond in anticipating our needs and caring for us.

Cabin / Stateroom

Inside rooms are small, but well designed. We had ample storage space, which was a little surprising. The rooms remind me of an efficiently designed RV.
Ship tip
I would advise to good a room in the middle of the ship. We were in the forward section and it was long way from any of the food. We did have a short wall to the pool, but we found ourselves frustrated by the distance to the restaurants in the rear of the ship.
No excursion. We went shopping. This is a great port for hanging close to the ship. There are a ton of easy accessible shops. The food off the ship is expensive here, though.
We took the river tubing and bamboo beach club excursion. We spent a lot of time driving, but our tour guide was awesome and kept us entertained. We enjoyed tubing. The beach club was just almost crowded, but not too much.
