Review summary

Overall, the cruise was fine. I'd love to see an improvement in onboard activities for sea days. Princess Cruise lines always had something available on our cruises with them, such as: small crafts and enrichment lectures on the history of the ports being visited.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
While embarkation was not bad, Galveston could really use a well planned terminal. It felt like we were in a warehouse.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5

Windjammer Marketplace

3 out of 5

The quality of the food was fine. The Windjammer could definitely use a better layout to avoid congestion. It would have been nice if they had extended hours as well. This is the first cruise we've taken where the buffet was not open on at least one side for the duration of the day. Because of that, it made it difficult to avoid crowds.

Sabor

5 out of 5

I highly recommend the Guacamole and Margarita demonstration. The food and service were wonderful.

Sorrento's Pizza

3 out of 5

Pizza other than cheese or pepperoni would have been nice. While they did make other types, they were few and far between. We never seemed to manage to get any of them.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
The fitness center was amazing and we used the gym several times during the cruise. I was very disappointed at the lack of free activities during sea days. There was scrapbooking, cupcake decorating, etc. offfered but at an additional fee. There were several Trivia quizzes daily, but they went quickly. A 15 question trivia quiz led my a crew member lasted 15 - 20 minutes. There was not any attempt at banter or making the quiz fun. I'd like to have seen them offer more activities, especially since we had 2 and a half straight sea days.

Jogging Track

4 out of 5

While I understand space is limited, it would have been nice to not have so many chairs crammed around the jogging track. It made it difficult to pass slower people.

Day Spa and Fitness Center

5 out of 5

The onboard fitness center was amazing! A great variety of machines and equipment for use.

Entertainment

4 out of 5

Library & Card Room

2 out of 5

Needs to be better maintained and organized. Books were just thrown haphazardly on the shelves and there was very limited seating available.

Promenade

3 out of 5

It would have been much better without all the booths lining the center of the promenade. They took up quite a bit of walking room. By the third cruise day, we avoided promenade.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
My husband uses a CPAP machine. Our cabin steward noticed this and left an extension cord in our cabin before we had a chance to ask for it. In addition, he also brought us a gallon of distilled water for it. Overall, the staff was very accommodating and friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
While clean, the ship could definitely use some refurbishing. You can see signs of wear and tear throughout.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was a decent size and comfortable. The balcony was the largest we've had on a ship and was wonderful.

Ship tip

Unlike other ships we've been on, the buffet is not open all day. The limited breakfast and lunch hours make it a little inconveinent, especially when returning from an excursion.
