Review summary
This was our 3rd cruise, first time with RC, precious 2 w/Carnival. We have 2 young boys 6 and 9. Both cruise venues are great with plenty for families of all ages to enjoy on both ships lines I believe. In my opinion, RC just does it better. Better food quality, choices, entertainment was more than phenomenal (Staying Alive, The Eagles concert, the Amazing Ice skating show and the Acrobatic Show) Trivia games of all sorts, casino games of all sorts, bars with knowledgeable staff that made great drinks and hardly a wait anytime I went for a drink, (alcohol and non-alcoholic), music and bands were plentiful, the cruise director, Jeffery, was fully engaged, funny and witty. The staff in the Rembrandt (main dining) were very sweet and engaging with our boys. We liked this a lot on our Carnival cruises too! The cleanliness of The ship was impeccable and keeping everyone well was obviously a priority to the staff. I felt very safe for myself and my kids on the ship. My kids played in splash away bay and they swam in the pools. Yes, it is crowded but there are 4500 people on a boat, I get it. It’s that way every cruise ship. We had such a nice time having our kids with us that I cannot comment on the kids club which they had plenty of activities for them to do, we just never got around to it...maybe next time! They played arcade games, rock climbing, rode the big water slides as did my husband and I. The ship is exquisite and romantic and incredible. The ship layout flows better than Carnival in my opinion as well. The only thing Carnival did better than RC was their behind the scenes tour...such a great piece of the trip but Carnival has them beat by far . The excursions: Roatan we did The horseback riding, snorkeling and lunch and beach. Very awesome memories made... my husband and I are divers (pre-kids) will again someday, so the snorkeling was more for the kids but enjoyable. Costa Maya, we did our own thing...shopped, ate, drank. They have a giant water park 10 blocks from port, but they also have a huge pool in the middle of the shopping venue surrounded by shops, food and bars and it was free! Loved it! Cozumel: Oh how we love Cozumel...this is our kids 4th time, probably our 12th time, but our first Manatee encounter swim! These gentle sea cows were so incredible! It’s hard to believe you are in the water with them, swimming with them , feeding them lettuce and giving them hugs! Highlight for us for sure! We have swam with dolphins and stingrays and I have been a diver and have encountered all sorts of sea life over the years, but nothing was more enjoyable and made my heart smile and to see my kids enjoying this excursion with these gentle giants. Back to the ship on the last day...didn’t want to say goodbye, we had an amazing time. Disembarking wasn’t awful, it’s tolerable. Just stay patient and calm and it goes pretty quick. I would have liked to look at my pictures in their Moments photo bar on the last day, but there’s a customs rule of some sort. Also, it would be nice to hang out in Windjammer and have coffee and eat breakfast while waiting to get off the ship. They closed it down at 9am sharp. We had to find a place to hang out for a couple of hours which we sat on the floor in Studio B and waited. Not the best arrangement but it didn’t ruin my day. Overall fantastic fantastic fantastic cruise and we will sail with RC again! 10 stars.Embarkation
