Review summary

We thought going after Easter and close to the end of the school year we would escape kids. Nope, there were plenty of kids and tons of under three. We were very disappointed with RC this trip. We aren't sure we will take RC again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Getting on to the ship was relatively fast for the amount of people.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was equivalent to Golden Corral. You were served a lot of food that was drenched in sauces or gravy. We were told by the crew that RC recently changed their menu. The menu selection was poor. The only salad offered was Caesar salad on most nights. The steak served was of poor quality. The buffet was good for a buffet. There was a lot of variety. The drink prices were very high. We sailed on RC a year ago. Things changed so much in one year.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was a variety of activities available on the ship. We only participated in a few activities, but that was our choice..

Casino Royale

4 out of 5

The blackjack tournament was fun. It is only seven hands long. Most people had fun participating.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Saturday Night Fever had great singer and dancers. The plot of the play was a bit strange or weak. Many of the shows were repeated from last year. The comedian was great. He did an adult show, but he did not fill it with too much profanity. Overall the entertainment was good, not outstanding though. The music around the ship was outstanding. There was a group who mimicked the Eagles who were outstanding.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Most of the staff did not go out of their way to great you. People did not wear smiles. The service in the main dining room was hit and miss. There were attendants in the buffet seating area who tried to get tables for groups. Unfortunately, small groups had to fend for themseles. Our cabin was cleaned daily. However, the glass on our balcony was so dirty you couldn't sit on the balcony and look our.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The public restrooms were only cleaned once in awhile. Sometimes the cleaning might just be to put in toilet paper. The elevators and railings were only cleaned as we left the ship. Maybe once a week?

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cable was acceptable. It was large enough for two people.

Ship tip

Use the stairs if you can. I got sick on the last day of the cruise. I wouldn't doubt if I got something from a kid coughing in my face.

Ports of call

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
We liked this port. We did an island tour. The people were so nice on the island. The snorkeling was excellent.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We went on ATV's which were fun. Horse flies were bad, so we only went on dirt roads. It was still very nice.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We've been to Cozumel before. It was very hot and humid. We did a horse and buggy tour around the city. We would have preferred another port. Going to two Mexican ports may not have been to our liking since we live a few miles from the Mexican border in Texas. We have the culture in our area. We see it all the time.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We had a late time to get off the ship. There were a few hundred people waiting in line for customs. I was having health issues, so security took me to the front of the line.

If you spend your time checking out how often and to what extent they clean the public restrooms you should probably go take a Valium and become a bird watcher. Hey look!! They are cleaning the crapper again. Let me check on it.

RC has a partnership with DreamWorks. So yeah...kids will be there.

Well......what if.......yeah, but.........ahh, nevermind.

Royal Caribbean is a family cruise line. Travel with Princess or Celebrity if you want less kids.

Maybe an adult all inclusive would be more your style 🤷‍♀️kids on a cruise ship 🤦‍♀️
