Royal Caribbean is dishonest and is too expensive.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Ship was 3 hours late due to "scheduled maintenance" at the last port from the last cruise and the ship didn't leave galveston until after 8 pm. Which caused the ship to be late to first port which cut into our time on our paid excursion. Then our second port was supposed to be grand cayman was cancelled on the first night when the port stop wasn't scheduled until Wednesday due to "bad weather". But then turns out two other cruise ships stopped at grand cayman the same day we were supposed to be there. So royal Caribbean is a big fat liar and were very dishonest. When we called the complaint department we were dismissed and they refused to let us speak to a supervisor. And both people were really rude. They would get zero stars if that was an option.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dinning was excellent. The buffet was awful, no variety at all and food was boring and not that great.
Drinks were too inexpensive!!
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Amenities were great. But as far as activities you have sporting contests and trivia. Too much trivia and not much else.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Shows were excellent!!!
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Overall the staff was awesome!! I did run across a few bartenders that gave my attitude when I was getting non- alcoholic drinks.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship was clean and had a great design. The water slides, flow rider, rock climbing wall, and ice skating rink were awesome.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Cabin was cleaned twice a day and bed was pretty comfortable. But the size is smaller compared to carnival window room.
Ship tip
Go with carnival. It's cheaper and more fun. But it does have more kids running around, but it you don't mind that....carnival is the way to go. Our anything but royal Caribbean.
They told us there was bad weather three days before port was scheduled. Turned out two other ships stopped there in the "so called bad weather". So Royal Caribbean is a big fat liar.
Went to Chukka, it was pretty cool. And the ziplining was awesome. If you do the full course, it's 9 ziplines. They have for wheeling and tubing there too, but didn't do those.
Based on my experience. Of course others may feel differently and they are definitely entitled to their opinion based on their experiences, but I have had a positive experience to date with RCCL. Not everything always goes to plan, but I just make the best of it and do my best to make the most out of my time in vacation. I'm already looking forward to my next cruise on Allure in May of 2108.
Sorry you had bad experience. The customer service problem you describe would be unacceptable. As Grand Cayman is tender port, they have to make a call about the weather, before they go too far that direction. However, Royal Caribbean is by far our favorite cruise line. We have sailed five other cruise lines, including Carnival. None are perfect, but overall Royal is by far the best, in our opinion.
I have been on 5 RCCL cruises and found the prices to be reasonable and the staff and crew to be friendly and helpful. Anyone I have talked with over the phone or in customer service have been patient and friendly.
