Great trip. A lot of kids on board but we were able to find quiet spaces.

Review summary

Great cruise from Galveston. Liberty of the Seas is a beautiful ship with lots of activities. There was the largest collection on kids we have yet experienced on a cruise but we had a good time. Food and staff were excellent. Entertainment in the Platinum theatre was very good but not much of it. Ship is clean, well maintained and well run. Muster drill was the smoothest we have experienced. Cabin was good. PA system could use improvement in many parts of the ship. Captain and Cruise director were good but less visible than on previous cruises we have made. Overall a good experience.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Ship had arrived late from previous cruise so embarkation was delayed several hours but considering that, the embarkation was relatively smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food on the cruise was very good and service was excellent

Main Dining Room

5 out of 5

This was one of the best main dining room experiences we have had on cruises.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We are senoirs, so our activities were limited but we enjoyed this ship's many features.

Casino Royale

3 out of 5

The casino was large and beautiful but very "tight"

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Our only disappointment was the lack of production shows. Only two during the week. The comedian shows were good but we were surprised by the lack of larger shows on this 7 day cruise.

Children's Programs

We are senoirs with no kids on trip.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This was the best dining room staff we have seen of the four cruises we have been on. Our cabin steward was also superb.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Considering it is now ten years old, Liberty was immaculate.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Deck 7 deluxe balcony cabin was in good shape and quiet.

Ship tip

If you want to avoid large number of kids, this is probably not your ship. However, we had a great time.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
It,s just an embarkation port, mainly industrial.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Compound area around the dock is large with many shopping options. We also took an electric bike excursion down the beach and had a great time.

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

Unfortunately, Grand Cayman was cancelled due to rough weather

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Spent all our time in the cruise compond area and enjoyed it. Very nice area with lots of shops and a large all Jamaican market

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth, no problems, about as good as it gets. Customs official was very polite.

texaslibrarian - how about the library/card room on deck 10, the chapel on deck 15, the cafe promenade (deck 5) at times, and adult areas around pool areas.

This review is well done and helpful! I read another review of this same sailing date and the person trashed RC. You had the same experience, did not find this cruise “perfect”, but you placed issues into a balanced perspective. My wife and I are a little on the older side ourselves and I get that this ship has a lot of things for the kids to do, so, unlike Celebrity, there are more of them around. Please review your future trips so I can learn from them.

If your looking for or would like a little older crowd with less kids to cruise with; I suggest the Princess cruise line.

My wife and I sailed on Liberty for our first Transatlantic cruise out of Barcelona. We absolutely loved the ship. Our balcony stateroom was also on deck 7, about midship and nice and quiet. Our experience on the ship was very much like yours. Overall a very nice vacation and an excellent first cruise experience for my wife.
