Review summary

Royal Caribbean over hipped. Disappointed. This cruise line was recommended by several friends, we traveled with an emerald member and a diamond member, they were very disappointed in this cruise as well. Will try carnival next time, can't be worse right?

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very fast, no hitches. Very wet, raining.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Buffet very good. Giovanni outstanding. Main dinning, food okay, but took an average of 2 1/2 to 2 hour and 45 minutes to get through dinner. Not once was the wine order correct. Usually had to trade plates with someone because most of the time handed wrong order.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Sat at pool side most of the time. The hot tubs were usually full of kids or large groups.

Entertainment

Not interested in shows offered

Children's Programs

Did not bring children on this trip

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Room steward was amazing! Bar tender in casino was amazing. Waiter in Giovanni was incredible. Bar tender at the pool bar was an unbelievable jerk. Guest services was a joke.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
For it's age the ship was very clean and seemed well maintained. The layout was impressive. The elevators were very very busy so be prepared to wait.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was tiny but very clean and easy to get used too. Everything worked flawlessly.

Ship tip

Keep a close eye on charges and added gratuities. Don't rely on guest services to remedy or follow up on issues.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
Clean and smooth operation.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Typical busy port. Clean, easy to navigate.

George Town, Grand Cayman

2 out of 5
Tenders are chaotic at best. Tender personnel are short tempered and rude. Port area looks like a prison yard.

Falmouth, Jamaica

3 out of 5
Great port! DONT leave port area, outside of compound is treacherous. There is plenty to do and see in port area.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Confusing, long wait. No control over lines. Better stay on yours toes.....

We didn’t care for liberty either. Too big. Love grandeur more. Cozy and fun staff was great. Going again in March.

I haven't sailed either ship. I'm sorry your experiences weren't pleasant. I've only sailed the Valor and Magic and both were magnificent. I'm sailing the Horizon next year and I'm looking forward to a newer ship.

MrsRachel I have been on 2 Carnival cruises, the Glory and the Freedom and found both ships to be looking very rundown and not well maintained with sewer smell out in the hallways and the ships aren’t even that old. The food in the MDR on the Glory was really bad. So much so that i actually lost weight. I haven’t tried the newer Vista which some like and others don’t. Other than Trivia not much activities going on during the day. I’m giving my opinion based on the two ships I’ve sailed.
