Review summary

We enjoyed our 7 night RC vacation. The ship was clean, staff very friendly and the food was O.K. We liked the dining room with the three levels and we always do the "any time" dining so it is convenient. The lines were never too bad to get a table and you can make reservations if you choose to. Breakfast was better in the buffet because you have more choices and the food is warmer. We didn't care for the mushy tasteless hash browns in the dining room but in the buffet they had crispy ones which are much better. They didn't charge a corking fee for the two bottles of wine I brought with me, which I thought was nice. They even stored it with our room number so we could finish the following night. BTW I did see that people were getting on the ship with their bottled water and soda drinks, wish I had known! They do allow two bottles of wine, Drinks are ULTRA expensive...beer $8.50 and mixed drinks up to $15.00. They really push the beverage and specialty restaurants. Chops was not good as they are cooking in Duck Fat not butter. The dining room was equal...not sure I would do the specialty dining at all. The beverage package is worth it if you are drinking at least 6 or more drinks per day. Don't forget you are off the ship for three days so we didn't take it and saved a lot of $$$ just buying the drinks.

The Buffet gets tricky trying to dodge the people in the lines and aisles but we figured it was worth it for the selections. They a really did a good job managing the buffet on this cruise. The food trays were quickly filled and they were  always warm. The eggs made to order were great and the lines were not too long. The help staff in the dining room would come around and offer juices, coffee and drinks. They seemed to want to help! The one thing we missed was the hot dogs and hamburgers by the pool. Almost every cruise I have gone on has some food by the pool...so we missed the burgers being grilled outside. Some cruises even have pizza outside and sandwiches but RC does not. The hamburgers are a disappointment as they are served from a tray inside  the buffet. Taste is NOT the same. They do have ice cream served by the kiddie pool in the afternoon which is nice. The lobster night is good. Remember you can make it surf and turf by asking the waiter and you can send anything back that is not to your liking and they will happily get you something else. You can get two entrees if you ask...they are very accommodating in the dining room.

Sailing out of Galveston limits your destinations. After many many cruises out of Galveston ...we have seen all the ports. We liked Honduras the best. We booked a private tour with Cleve and he is a one man show! Takes you all over the island , stopping where ever you want to go, in his 12 passenger van. If you have a group or go as a couple , he is your man! Fun and intelligent with good energy that could be bottled and sold for big bucks!

If you go to Costa Maya get on the shuttle and go to the beach. Go to the second stop on the shuttle where they have the free palapas and give you the free margarita. Yes they are trying to refine the place but we had a GREAT time listing to live music, drinking beer and getting massages. $20. for a great massage on the beach. Can you beat that? It is so Mexico and we had fun.

Cozumel was nice too. We went to Mr. Sanchez's Beach Club about 15 minutes from the pier by Taxi. Its is a very nice resort with a great pool, pool bar and beach is clean and fun for kids too. Snorkeling is available as are the Kayaks. They have an all inclusive price of $59. for food and drinks which we did. The service was great.

Our room on the RC Legend was small, the bathroom very small but pretty typical of sailing on a cruise. Our aft view was amazing and the balcony on floor 7 and 8 are worth booking as they are twice the size and view both aft and side. We had cabin 708 and I HIGHLY recommend it if you do not mind walking. VERY  quiet  and the balcony is as private as it gets. Teo chaise lounges and two chairs and a small table. Perfect balcony and best yet!

All in all....we enjoyed.

EXCELLENT BALCONY AFT VIEW...small room ...very quiet. We loved it and didn't mind the walk. It is actually in a great location to the dining rooms.

They are on the RC website where you can purchase it in advance for 20% discount. I purchased mine for $378 for 7 days
