Review summary

This was our first cruise. We loved many aspects of it but there were a few issues that is making me reconsider RCL.

I will start with the bad in order of how serious I considered it.

My wife developed an infection in the last days of the cruise. We visited the medical facilities on the cruise where we encountered our most serious concern.

There was no form of a triage. Patients are seated in the waiting room and called back in the order they arrived for a check in process. We waited 20 minutes to check in.

During our our wait a young child arrived who had an open wound that was bleeding on his foot. He was subjected to the same wait we were. He sat out in the waiting room dripping blood. He was swinging his leg around which caused blood to spatter on my wife. At no time did the staff attempt to bandage the wound or prevent the biohazard from affecting other patients.

We waited an additional 2 hours to be seen by a medical professional for a less than 5 minute conversation.

Our second concern was with the disembarking process once we arrived home. The self carry option was unorganized chaos. It would not take much effort to develop a better process.

My final concern was with the spa. We had prebooked an appointment before our cruise left. The cruise had a sale on massages the same day ours was scheduled. Due to this sale we waited 45 minutes after our appointment was scheduled to start the massage.

Now on to the good.

We ate dinner in the main dining room every day and the food was amazing. We never felt like we were anything other than our servers first priority. The attention to detail was impeccable.

We also enjoyed our room. It was larger than expected and the attendant did a wonderful job of ensuring it was always clean.  The only negative about the room was the wifi did not work that well. We were close to where the engineers slept and I do not think they had enough access points in that location.

Thanks for your review. Luckily I've never had to use the medical services, but sounds like RC needs a refresher course on preventing the spread of bodily fluids.

The main reason self carry is a mess is because very few people follow the rules and act like they are the only ones that matter. I got of LOS this past Sunday. Most people didn't have any problem at all, but there were a few idiots that thought they were more important than anyone else. I love self-carry and will do it every time. I was off the boat and on my way home by 8:00. Some people just need to learn ti have a little patience and respect for others

An idiot? Wow! Mattward, I have seen you post many negative comments on this site. Why?

I understand your concern. But really not more than a schools nurse office. I agree with aircraft06. We take along a small medical kit. I'm blessed though my wife is also a RN.

I always have my doctor prescribe myself and my wife some antibiotics to take with us and a medium size first aid kit because you never know
