Review summary

The Liberty of the Seas is a lovely ship, and provided consistently good food in the Windjammer, with excellent dining each night in the main dining room.  Not one bad or off meal.  Our wait staff, Desmond and Valerie, were a joy each and every night. The crew was extremely attentive and our room steward was very nice.   I have cruised other lines, but always come back to Royal Caribbean.  We already have our next cruise on Liberty of the Seas booked!  I actually prefer Royal Caribbean over their more upscale Celebrity Lines.  But they did drop the ball on two issues.  We had requested Handicapped assistance, since I suffer from a horrible back injury of 20 years.  It was not available until we checked in.  Then we had to practically beg someone to help us. Thank goodness we had my transport chair, but my husband had a very difficult time dealing with it and carry on luggage.   The disembarkation was a horrible mess.  We were to have received vouchers for our transport to Houston Hobby airport, but my husband had to leave me in the departure lounge, had to go up to Guest Services, and talk to three people before we were able to again beg for help and get off.  Once we got through to the baggage pick up area we no longer had help retrieving luggage.  My husband was once again juggling me in the wheelchair and the luggage.  Finally, a very kind man from the dock crew got our luggage and took us to the bus boarding for the airport. It was raining and we still had no vouchers, then found out since our names were on the bus boarding list, we were good to go.  But, several on the bus were about to miss their connecting flights, since everything was so messed up on the Guest Services end of it. on the ship.  They would call departure group numbers rapidly, but it was very unclear where folks were supposed to go from the departure lounge.  We finally left the cruise parking lot, and we were a bus full of soaked rats!!!  A total cluster, and Guest Services was uninformed and overwhelmed!  Never have we gone through so much to get off the ship.  Never!

Ample room and we may brig my scooter next time. Was pleased with the set up for a handicapped person.

Ship tip

Make sure you go to the main dining room to immediately set up your dining room table. If you are handicapped, make sure you get to your Muster Station well in advance of the appointed time for muster. Makes getting there by elevator not a problem.

I don't think people realise how hard it is to get about sometimes unless (not all ) they have some kind of experience of there own my brother is disabled and it can be very hard to get help people didn't ask to be this way and it takes a lot of effort for some people to get on a trip a little courtesy goes a long way just be glad it's not you and your family some people should be admired for making a big effort to have a happy time
