Review summary

We enjoyed our recent trip to the Caribbean out of Galveston on Liberty of the Seas. Overall, the staff was friendly, but some seemed less than enthused to be there. The ship is older and is going to be rejuvenated early next year. If I had know this, I probably would have selected another ship. However, our room was clean and the promenade was really nice. I haven't been on a ship with a promenade before. It is a great place to people watch and flag down newfound friends.

Our excursions were great. We booked those through , and things went well. I think the worst thing about the cruise was the food. Nothing was really spectacular and most of it was very unappealing. The pizza at Sorrento's was worse than the pizza at our grandchild's school cafeteria!

The cruise director and activity director were fun and friendly. The ice show was out of this world, and I loved the Saturday Night Fever show. There are some great ice skaters and dancers on board. The comedians were both really lacking, though.

Our cabin was clean and in good shape. My parents had a cabin on the 7th floor and had no hot water for the whole cruise, though.

Take a snack and water on each excursion.

Plan an excursion, as there is not much to do in port besides shop. It is very expensive to shop here.

I loved the Liberty. Sailed her three times from Bayonne and was so sorry to see her leave for Texas. Cruise director Drew and Activities director Gio were great. and Godfrey's trivias were a blast!

if you can afford a suite it is so worth it! concierge lounge, you have priority embarking and disembarking, we had lunch at the captain's table on the last day at sea. the concierge, Carlos nominated one couple and that was us. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. Do the Cozumel Bar Hop if you go to Cozumel. It was a blast!

it was really good. We are in the MDR the first night, salmon was excellent a well as appetizers and dessert. Second nIght we ate at Chops Grille. The porterhouse was the best we've had in a while. Invited to the chef's table the third nIght, was just ok, Portofino the fourth night was really good. Mystery Dinner theater was super fun and also excellent. We also did room service a couple of nights and windjammer a few times for breakfast. We also had read those negative reviews, but the food really was good. We got married on the Ship and also had a grand suite, but I'm sure that didn't have anything to do with the good quality, but they treated us like royalty and it was AWESOME. We're going again next December for our anniversary. :)

The food is relative. The larger the ship, the faster and earlier they have to cook it to have a no ugh for all of the passengers. That is why the food at the pay restraints is better. They cook it to order. However, I have read mostly negative things about the food on Liberty.
