Le Bellot overview

Like the other ships in the PONANT EXPLORERS series, Le Bellot is designed to provide a comfortable experience for its passengers, even at the heart of the world's most remote and isolated regions. State-of-the-art equipment, refined design, a softly muted and at the same time welcoming ambiance, together with a small number of cabins all contribute to the modernity of the Le Bellot.

All the 92 staterooms and suites onboard Le Bellot are equipped with private balconies or terraces. Cabins include a flat-screen satellite TV, Bose Bluetooth speaker, Hermes bath products, direct line telephone, 24-hour room service and Wi-Fi.

An essential component of French culture, gastronomy naturally is a central part of Le Ballot. Dining venues include: The Le Nautilus, a panoramic restaurant lounge, the Grill Restaurant, an exterior venue serving grilled specialities. In January 2016, PONANT announced it had joined forces with Ducasse Conseil, a catering center of excellence run by Alain Ducasse Enterprise.

Engaging and Insightful Experience in Iceland by caragol

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Le Bellot

This cruise excels at service and attention to the passengers, given there is about a 1:1 ratio of crew to passengers. After a day of hiking and exploration it was wonderful to return to the comfort and pampering we received onboard. The ship is very stable and the safety measures and medical facilities well appointed. The food was delectable and focused more on quality than quantity. Not the cruise for huge all you can eat buffets, but lovely, well composed dishes with plated dinners. We also enjoyed the afternoon caviar tasting paired with vodka or champagne and the Iberian pasta negra ham tasting paired with Jerez. The Smithsonian experts added another level of insights and opportunities to learn about the Icelandic people and culture and the interesting relationship between the geology of Iceland and astrophysics and space exploration. We also met many pleasant and intelligent passengers in the many excursions and social gatherings.

If you do not speak French, select a cruise sponsored by Smithsonian, Tauk or other-organization catering to English-speaking passengers.
