Dutch Kitchen and Crows Nest are hidden gems.

The size and number of people was perfect... at around 2200... the ship was relatively new.

Pick a location carefully. Make sure what is right above your cabin.

Ship was very rocky

Change ships. Long lines for all food in the Lido Market. We had some bad experiences such as a server refusing to give vanilla or chocolate ice cream. On the first night in the main dining room the server claimed to have run out of Caesar Salad dressing. Our room steward, Raz, was wonderful.

I didn't realize that there are mostly older people that go on the Holland America line. At 65, I felt young! There was bingo that was offered for prizes such as a free cruise, but it cost $35 to play four games. I think most of the elderly people on the ship would have liked to play more often if the price were lower. It discouraged many people from playing.

If you are looking for things to do during sea days, this is not your ship.

If you're a reader, don't depend on their megar library. Take along books.

Live in the moment, 11 days went by very quickly.

Go find Paula working at Explorations Cafe for a coffee. A delightful person!

Make sure all your OBC are there at least a month before you sail. Holland America will not help you. Priceline has a complicated system to get your OBC - get clarification!

Enjoy! Be kind to your stewards and they will take excellent care of you.

After a few days it is very boring, especially on sea days. The only thing fun to do was the BB King and Rolling Stone music. They accommodate GAYS but do nothing for singles. Even the elderly passengers were complaining about having nothing fun to do.

Make sure to get assigned table and not open seating -- much better

For those booking or who are booked on the Koningsdam- TAKE WARNING! We just got off and had major problems with our cabin. If you are booked in a mid-ship balcony cabin on decks 1, 3, 4 and 5 you will not be able to go to sleep prior to 11:30PM. These cabins are affected by the BB King Jazz Club on decks 2 and 3. The Base guitar and the drums are very loud and the vibration from these will shake your cabin and bathroom. The glasses in our bathroom were dancing and clattering to the vibrations. Place a washcloth under them to protect them. After speaking to Customer service and the person in charge of Housekeeping, we found out that when the ship was in Dry Dock for refurbishing, they neglected to put insulation to prevent this from happening. If you can change your cabin to forward or stern cabins, you will not have this problem. Also, if you go to sleep after 11:30 PM, you will also not be affected by this. Also, we found the entertainment to be terrible with virtually no production shows and a fair comedian. We this was our 92nd cruise and one of our worst. The ship is magnificent and beautiful but this is a serious problem.

Prime locations--like Crow's nest and the loungers on the top tier of the pool area get taken quickly.
