Review summary

Before you choose HAL check the Better Business Bureau site. Here you will find a D- rating. And if you read the complaints, you will find that 99% are dealing with refunds and money owed. And you will also find that most complaints state that reaching customer services is impossible. I have been owed $1300 since May. I contracted co-vid on the cruise and had to quarentene in Vancouver for 4 days. I was told hotel and meals would be reimburssed according to their policy. I was given forms, filled them and no responce. The other couple we were traveling with were also poitive with co-vid They are at the top of the Marinars Club. They filled out their forms and had their money within two weeks. PLEASE read other cruise company's reviews on the BBB site. You will find that their ratings are much higher, and most complaints are about issues other than monetary issues. It may be that HAL is in trouble. I love cruising and have cruised HAL before, but after this NEVER again.

I think you'll find that it is the independent insurance Co. That owes you the $1300.00 as it is a separate entity from the cruise line. I am going through the same thing with an Alaska cruise with Princess where my wife and I contracted covid. Been waiting since May 2022 for our reimbursement. It seems that they play the waiting game to frustrate you so you'll go away. Typical insurance co. tactics. I think that the cruise industry should hold them to a higher standard and make them accountable.

Using a TA is the most important part of cruise planning, use the tool it's basically free & they get answers & refunds asap. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

I am agree with you. Monetary police of HAL is crazy. Everything you buy on the ship they pre atuthorized the double and block the card in few days. Pity because the itinerary are excellent

Wow this has never been my experience with HAL. always quick to get my refunds and I was not top mariner. Why the horrible ratings for all ports. Clearly perplexed on that one. Maybe cruises arenโ€™t for you ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Iโ€™m surprised by the bad ratings on all the ports. I have been to all of them and all the Hawaiian stops were like Paradise. But to be fair we did not stay on the ship, we rented cars and explored. But the Vancouver port in in Canada Place which is a really nice area full of restaurants and things to see. Historic Gastown and other great tourist attractions are just a short walk away. So Iโ€™m not sure what to say about that. Also the scenery from Canada Place with the Rocky Mountains and back is one of the most beautiful city landscape scenes youโ€™ll ever see.

Sorry you had issues. Holland America is a very reputable line. Most businesses are struggling with customer service issues and staff shortages. Hopefully you had a good travel insurance policy that will cover any losses not covered by the cruise line.
